Boxster owner considering a 968
#1

Hi all,
Currently I have a 2005 Boxster S but am considering a 944 turbo or a 968 for drivers ed use. I'm from St. Paul, MN. I thought I would take a look at the forums here and learn a few things!
Ciao!

You mean like drivers ed in high school? I think the one I "learned" in was a Valiant or some other woefully under powered POS with 2 brake pedals. How cool would it be for a Driver's Ed guy to pull up in a 944 turbo??

As I recall my "instructor" told me that I was an "offensive driver" haha that one still makes me laugh...

For DE track use ( only ) I'd think the 951 would be slightly better, though I would never opt for a 944 ( turbo or not ) over a 968 in any other respect - just my $ .02

If you are going to track it, 944 turbo with suspension and turbo and brake upgrades

If you are just cruising around in DE's , and you want a nice street ride, 968

As a track car, the 951 has a lot more potential for chewing up your wallet with upgrades and maintenance.

968 with some suspension mods would be a great DE car.
Far less finiky than a 951. Half the maintainance.

Agreed, although more power would also be nice. At a minimum, RS Barn headers, chip, and airbox mod, along with the lightweight flywheel, though the supercharger that's in the works will also be a great equalizer.

Wasn't there a car for sale a couple of weeks ago already prepped for DE? I seem to think it is a PCA instructors car?
