belts- what I need to change
#1

Hi guys,

I have a 968CS that has about 39,000 miles on it.

The car has been in 'storage' in for the last two years as I've been living overseas for that time. The belts were last changed about 4-5 years ago so I think it's time to do them again.

I've noticed that there are kits for sale online which include belts, rollers etc. for $179. Are these a good buy ..it seems like they are OEM. Kit includes:

Cam Belt Tensioner Roller Porsche # 94410524102

Cam Belt Tensioner Roller Porsche # 94410563110

Balance Shaft Tensioner Roller Porsche #94410227706

Balance Shaft Tensioner Roller Porsche # 94410202507

Camshaft Belt Porsche # 94410532302

Balance Shaft Belt Porsche #94410221904

Is there anything else you guys think I should change in regards to that area?

ps. these will be installed by an independant Porsche service centre.

Regards,

Steve

It depends how far you want to go. Was the waterpump changed 4-5 years ago (w/ thermostat)? Do you want to replace the front end seals (balance, balance, crank, cam)? Was the balance shaft tensioner replaced last time? Don't forget the accessory belts. There is an extensive list floating around here somewhere. Good luck.
