Hi all,
I disconnected the battery yesterday to pull the instrument cluster. Since putting it all back together, I hear a 4-second buzz/whirr from down behind the stereo head when the ignition is switched on and again just after the engine fires. It didn't do it before I worked on the dash. It sort of sounds like a small motor running, but I don't know if there's a motor down there or why it would be doing this twice in quick succession. I had a look at the wiring diagram, but I couldn't see anything helpful on it. As far as I can tell, the noise only happens at switch-on/startup.
Can anyone shed any light on what it might be? The only cables I disturbed to pull the instruments were the three connectors on the instrument binnacle itself and the battery negative lead. When I reconnected the battery, it also armed a second alarm the car apparently has (fortunately the Meta-branded fob disarmed both when they went off together after opening the door!), but it doesn't seem like an alarm would involve something that would make a 'motory' noise.
Thanks for any help,
Michael
