That's good news. Given the fact that practically every 968 that hasn't had their cables replaced really needs it, he's a great resource to have around.

Scarily enough, my car is otherwise pristine-looking, and the plastic and rubber are in what I consider great shape (for its age). Yet, every bit of insulation was gone on this cable. Well, not gone as in missing entirely, it was all there inside the outer sheath, in the form of little brittle chips. What I'm trying to say is, even if everything else looks great on your car, you should pay attention to this cable - Porsche used some bad material for insulation in this application.

I sure hope that good news is the headlight kit...I bought the wiring kit and had it installed several years ago.

I have been having the same problem for the last year or so and it never used to happen.I put an ammeter between the
positive post and the cable head. There is a draw of 1.35 milliamps. I pulled each fuse one at a time looking for the
circuit that was causing the draw. I went through all the fuses and not one made any difference. I am very confused about
the cause of the drain and I have been thinking about just getting a battery tender. I am open to any suggestions as to
how I might track this down.

oddly, i have found that you have to wait a few seconds with each fuse.  also, the best way to do it is to remove them all, and then add them in one at a time.  that's how i found a couple of odd drains in mine.

you could have a diode short in the alternator, or a bad cable to the alternator.  that would create draw

you could also have bad cables between the starter and the main.  that happens more than you might think
