Average Length of Ownership
#1

I see lots of posts about alternative cars, dream cars, practical cars and plain stupid cars. Being someone who is usually always considering what my next car might be, I seem to have fallen (perhaps somewhat unexpectedly) into a comfortable and rewarding relationship with my 968.

I just realised that this is now my 6th year of ownership - which is outside my norm I must confess.

I was wondering what the average length of ownership of 968's for forum members might be?

Cheers,

Peter

I got mine 7,5 years ago. I hope to drive it for many more years to come.

It only gets cooler and better with aging IMO.

Maybe you tech-savvy dudes can put up one of those polls with a bar graph for years of ownership.

My first 968 : 12 years and counting..

My second : 5 months and counting..

( my 944s - also two of them - 18 years . So if I liked those enough to hang on to them for that many years, the 968s are lifers - I expect to get another 50 years out of both and after that my son can have them :-) ;-). )

7 years and counting. This is my 4th and, hopefully, my last Porsche - I could drive this car forever. The others were a 356 (back in the 70's and sold to help pay for grad school), a 914 track car (until the engine let go) and a 911sc (until some lady decided she wanted my lane on the freeway).

Bought my '92 in March of '96 when I traded in an '86 na944. What a difference! Was purched from dealer as they received it back through PCNA on lease return. Guess I could be consider the "original owner". Had 34K on the clock when purchased, now at a tick under 70K. Original plan was to only keep it 5yrs, then move up to 911. Glad I did not. Told my wife that I was sure it would appreciate in value being a limited # produced. Now maybe worth 1/2 what I paid so I better keep it a little longer!
