Auto Saran
#1

I don't know the real name of the product. I was watching some boobtube last night and saw this ad for a clear plastic product you unroll and put on the front end of your car. Purpose? To adhere to the nose of your car/rv/what-have-you when you are going on a long trip... I don't know what their claim was on rock chips, but I believe it was mainly for bugs. Yeah, all the bugs stay off your car, but at what cost?

All it looks like when you're driving down the road is that you took some Saranwrap from the kitchen and put it on the front of your car! Really sloppy looking and kinda ridiculous. If you don't like bugs, get a real bra.

Or wash it.

Sorry, I about spit my wine out through my nose last night when I saw it. It was really quite funny, despite my poor description here.

kind of like this?

griots version

Griot's Surface Protection Film

I have no problem with people who use it or something like it but my paint is not pristine. It might do less damage than a regular bra.

don't laugh - i actually did that courtesy of eric sandoval on the way back from denver a few years ago - saved me a huge number of chips, given that all of utah was under construction and i picked up 3 dozen chips on the way there

many of us use blue masking tape when we go to the track

Well, the track is one thing... I can totally see that.

I dunno, Maybe it was the initial shock of seeing someone saranwrap their car... or something...

as in.. when you get home from work, and your car is waiting at the garage door for you wearing nothing but saran wrap ? I totally get that

not sure I'd drive with that plastic on either, nor do I like the OE bra, nor the permanent clear bra option, so I'm doomed to chips and repainting the nose when it gets bad enough. that said, if the car was on an open trailer that's another deal altogether ( ref. flash's experience.. ) and I'd definitely cover with plastic wherever indicated.

Obviously you are thinking of "auto" erotic asphysiation.

baz - this might be what you are looking for...

This stuff looks like what you can buy at u-Haul to wrap furniture for a move. It's not adhesive, but it does stretch and it sticks to itself.

Poor David. What a lousy way to be remembered after a long and successful career.

I can picture Popeye and Olive Oil watching TV and seeing the Carradine story and Popeye commenting, "How embaraskin' Olive."
