Are the braces all spoken for or is there room for one more?
call pete - he handles all of the sales
update - all of the remaining loose parts for these arrived today - packing and shipping now
the first shipment of lower braces is on its way to pete as we speak
Will the lower brace work with the Racer's Edge caster blocks? I can't tell exactly how the brace is mounted, so I have to ask...
i believe so - it works with the elephant racing ones - call pete - he has a set there, and is installing this brace on a car with those blocks next week
Flash,

i havnt been lurking the forums for a long time now. But i have been waiting for this lower brace for about a year now. I placed my order with Pete. I cant wait. I will make a thread in a few weeks from now with my latest update in terms of modifications. and a bunch of pictures.
lol - yeah - sorry it took so long for me to get around to these things - lots of projects, and they all take time to design, test, redesign, retest, find manufacturers and vendors, fire manufacturers and vendors, find new manufacturers and vendors........

well, you get the idea

and there are more on the horizon
My brace came in yesterday. Will be installing tonight or tommorow afternoon. Cant wait for my new parts to go on the car.
please read the instructions carefully before beginning, no matter how good a mechanic you are - they are very complete and specific for very real reasons

have fun
on the lower brace, you need to be sure your motor mounts are in good shape - 2mm of collapse and you will have problems with contact with the brace as the engine torques - if you make contact, remove the brace until you replace your motor mounts - failure to do that will result in wearing a hole in your downpipe

this is a note i will be adding to the install instructions
When do you expect the next batch to be ready?
next batch?

second batch went out, arrives at pete's tomorrow - no purchase order for third batch in place at this time

Kewl, I cant wait..
Woot, Pete called me this week and said my strut brace and lower brace are on their way. Hopefully they'll arrive in time so I can get the shop to install it while they're rebleeding the clutch <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
These things are great. I just took the back way to work this morning, and I love how the upper brace has tightened up everything and cut down on shake and jiggle in the front end.

Once I get the lower one in, it will transform the car.

Tremendous job by Flash and Pete!
i'm working on a revision to the brace to try to accommodate sagging motor mounts - i've run into 2 cars now with that problem, and i anticipate people not wanting to change their mounts when they are still above the minimum spec

not sure i'll get there, but i'm sure going to try - the issues are ground clearance and suspension interference - so far, the only solutions i've come up with involve an alignment afterward, and i don't want to do that

a small amount of extra clearance (.5 mm or so) can be obtained by putting the strap on the front side of the brackets, but you have to wrestle with the hardware a bit more to get it together

i need some feedback from those who have installed the brace to tell me how much clearance they had to the exhaust, and what their motor mounts measured
ok - it turns out that once the motor mounts get to about 60% height, a clearance issue arises - additionally it appears there may be a small variance from car to car that exacerbates the condition

i did not expect the need to accommodate anything less than near perfect condition, and have always felt that one should sort out everything first before modifying - however, it turns out that it is very easy to not know the condition of the car until you get in there to install this thing, and then it may be too costly or inconvenient for some people, especially if the mounts are functional and not near the failure point

so, a "fix" is now worked out - a couple of notes on this fix:

this is NOT the correct thing to do

the correct thing to do is to replace the motor mounts, regardless of whether or not they are making contact or have failed yet

this fix will not work if your mounts are already making contact or are near making contact - this will only increase the clearance on marginal mounts, but will not be a correction for failed or near failed mounts - we will not be doing that

this fix will likely NOT work with aftermarket mounts

this fix may cause ground clearance problems on lowered cars, particularly street cars with minimal spring improvement - the damage that results from this could be significant - if you smack the bar, you could pull the weld nuts at the castor blocks right out of the frame - we are not responsible for this, it is not recommended, and we strongly recommend that you replace the motor mounts instead

the fix consists of a new set of brackets - they will be ready in a few days - we will send them to the few people who are experiencing exhaust manifold clearance issues - you need to contact pete directly to arrange this

after this shipment though, we will have to be more specific in the ordering process, and discuss the condition of the motor mounts and ride height of the car, etc

thanks in advance for all the input - sorry for the inconvenience
p.s. - this is NOT something we want anyone to do as a "preventative measure"
