After letting the brace sit in the garage for a week and half, I finally installed it yesterday and it is worth every penny and than some... Thanks Bob for the great product and cant wait for the next item (hopefully it starts with an S and ends with an R). Thanks again
Hmmm...I know Bob has some helpful projects under way, but I didn't realize that one of them was a StarteR. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
roflmao - you guys kill me
Hey Bob,
Is it a Steak grilleR that mounts over the exhaust manifold? I know you wanted to keep heat out of the top of the engine, but to use it to cook a steak is a stroke of genius. Another home run as far as I'm concerned!
Can't wait!
Brian
Hi guys, I've emailed rsbarn a few times ref buying one of these but had no replay so far. I'm in the UK, do rsbarn ship to the UK? Also, does anyone know if this will work with an early steel armed 944?
Ta!
i know he does ship to the UK
i don't know about the early 944
i'll mention this to him when i talk to him tomorrow
ok - got the scoop - bad news - will NOT fit early steel arm cars - sorry
The early Steel Arm cars have a different design castor block. The Lower brace won't work with that design.

Bugger! I best get on the mill then and knock up one myself!
Thanks for responding guys!
Just wanted to thank Flash & Pete for sending the revised (longer) angles for my lower brace kit.
Now I can enjoy the added stiffness up front (which I can feel) without worrying about downpipe clearance.
I'm proudly showing off both my upr & lwr braces at out local P-car meetings now.
The heat shield from our kitchen (Reynolds wrap :-) near down pipe is just a precaution, as I don't really know how hot (if any) the brace gets, but I do know stiffness & strength of alumimum alloy dips at higher temp.
something midblu posted on another thread:
In regards to the lower brace if you have not yet attached one to your car or are even considering it THE LOWER BRACE IS ABSOLUTELY A MUST! I have lowered, restruted, MO30'ed, strut tower braced, shocked, best possible tires (PS2's) and custom aligned my car all in the eternal struggle to pull the best possible handling out of what is arguably Porsche's finest handling car. By far the biggest single improvement was the purchase and installation of the lower brace. The assumption for the dramatic difference the brace made was a result of all the pieces coming together with the lower brace being the last piece of the puzzle but for my car and the type of driving I use it for (canyon runs through the mountains above Malibu) there are few cars that can stay with me now. I run with some serious machinery every Sunday when I'm in town (this past weekend 4 Ferrari, BMW M coupes, Evo's, GT3, Mazdaspeed 3 and GTR) and my buddies are always surprised by the capabilities of the 968. The lower brace help to transform my cars handling to absolute stability allowing me to dive into corners faster then ever before. Highest recommendation!
i concour. The brace did wonders for my car. I cant say it was the single best piece for the car. But i can say it is absolutely the best bang for the buck piece and is one of the best pieces. My upgraded sway bars made a huge diff (MO30 Front Bar & Lindsey Racing Rear Bar set to stiffest setting). I would say, they made a dif. that was equal to what the brace did....but at a much higher cost. Moral of the story...i highly recommend the brace.
PS....a proper alignment will also do wonders for the cars handling.

I Fully agree on this one, had mine adjusted last week, and boy does it make a difference, feels like car has 100% more grip on corners + steering response is something much better now.
OK, I just had to write this this morning. Won my autocross class yesterday.............by a bunch. I ran a 43.9 second. Fastest of the day was a 40.2 by Danny Sheilds. (Danny wins the mens division at the Porsche Parade every year AND is a 5 time SCCA Autocross champion).
I've struggled with huge oversteer for the last 2 years..........just could not control the back end when I had to drive fast enough to score well. So the mission to go faster was started.
M030 bars front and rear with Delrin bushings. Rear set at the softest setting. Koni yellows all around with the ride height adjustment option on the back from Paragon. 300lb. front springs. Elephant Racing Caster blocks. Flash's lower strut brace. 9" ET55 Boxter wheels all around with new Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD008 rubber 2354017 front 2554017 rear. Ran at 36 psi all around. New alignment which finally got me -1 degree of camber at the rear and -1.5 up front. Holy s***...........I ran faster than most of the Boxters and 911's and was within 3.7 seconds of Danny Sheilds in his Boxter with Kumho Victoracers on it. I have to say that I am more than pleased. The rear was planted really well with no hint of oversteer. At next months autocross, I'm going to move the back sway bar to the middle setting and see if I can induce just a bit of oversteer.
Stay tuned.
Wiseman....good to hear your car was transformed. Did you make all the changes at one time or over a period of time. Just wondering if you can pinpoint anything that was the most effective change????
Did not notice a lot with the M030's and rear Koni's. The front Koni's, Springs, brace, Caster Blocks and alignment were all done at the same time. Thats when the car transformed.
I forgot to mention on the previous thread about the Lower Strut Bar install issue I had. When I tried the installation as directed, the bar was hitting the exhaust. I called Flash and we both measured where the bar was hitting the exhaust in relation to the main weld in the pipe on all of our cars. It was crossing the exhaust in a different spot in relation to the weld than Flash's car. Kinda thought the usual.....tired motor mounts. But, when I mounted the bar IN FRONT of the brackets rather then in the rear as instructed, I cleared the exhaust by 3/4 of an inch. Flash had no issue with this and its been on there for 2 months now.
Another quirky thing about the '92 968.
not just my car, but every other car i have seen - yours is definitely different - might be an early 92 thing - wouldn't surprise me a bit
