ok - lol - everybody needs to relax now - i don't have any further information, and won't until the thing gets here, likely at the end of the week or so - then a day or two to design in the changes - then however long it takes to knock out the proto, verify it, and then the production run



i'll keep everybody updated, and pete will have them for sale as soon as they're done
You had better replicate yourself so you can get all this 968 stuff done faster!!!!!

In all seriousness, thanks to Duckman for providing the basis and thanks to Flash for taking on this project!
no worries - it's the right thing to do - the community wants it, and has for a long time - i'm happy to help make that happen - i would have gotten to this sooner, but was just too danged lazy to yank the one out of my car - this was the first opportunity where somebody was sitting on it uninstalled AND willing to let me measure it

This sounds like GREAT news....

My "old" 944 racing SSK is fabulous, cant recomend it highly enough...

As i said in a previous post, its just the right amount of throw now, Ive had one fitted to my car[s] for the last 4 years...Ever since Eric Sandoval first did the first batch...I just hope you iron out the challenges with the kit catching on the box housing...????

talk to me about the problem you experienced - this is the first i heard of that - there looks to be tons of clearance around everything

got the shift kit - i'll be working on it tomorrow - it's a lot more complicated than the one for the 944

yeah - i'll try to get a shot today - i am trying to figure out how i am going to get it done, whether or not there is a better way to go about it, or just to knock it off as is with only minor improvements - it's a pretty complicated piece from a machining standpoint - a lot of lathe cuts, a combination compound angle cut and a weld - there definitely was some work involved in designing this thing - i wish the guy was still in business
Anyway to contact him? Perhaps he has the CNC programs or a drawing he would be willing to sell cheap?
been trying that for 3 years - no luck - i don't think he ever programmed this stuff - pretty sure it was by hand
How much were they?



I had a friend that is a CNC Machinist but he showed up to my wedding (the church!!) drunk and made a fool of himself. I don't talk to him anymore. He made a bunch of parts for my ATV's and the 944. Maybe I should bite the bullet and talk to him again?
i've got the facilities here making other stuff for me - that's not the problem really - i can certainly get it done - it's just more complicated than i remembered - heck, i think assembling it will require a jig - there is even what looks to be a press fit



but, i'll get there - just may take a little bit longer than i had hoped - oh well



the other issue that i have to stay clear of is copyright infringement - the last i heard the guy who designed and made it went out of business and fell off the map - the last thing i want to have happen is him come back and sue me for big dough on something we may make 50 of - too bad - REALLY nice guy who knew a LOT about these cars

The guy I use to machine out the 993 steering wheel recess can do any CNC or hand machining work- he owns a full-blown shop with just about every imagineable machine- I've been there- he makes CNC parts for some big time contracts nation-wide. No welding though!



I'd be more than happy to ask him to quote it if you want, all we would need to supply is a baseline spec (quantity, materials of construction, drawing, etc.).



I might be able to help with the drawing as I have ACAD, but I am not very good. And I would certainly be willing to help however I can...



It helps that he's a car nut too... He has a customized Chevy SSR with a chromed supercharger, a beautiful Cobra kit car, and old Ford (30's) convertable, a huge garage, and a neat collection of restored antique gas pumps.

Check to see if it has a patent on it. If not, your design improvements submitted on a new patent application will cover you no problem.
