Anyone score anything cool @ Hershey??
#1

Didn't really know where to put this, but I am curious to see what people were able to score at the swap meet, if anything!

Since I wasn't able to go, I need to live vicariously through everyone who did!!

My buddy scored a set of 4 near mint (albeit dirty) 16" D90's with tires (about 95% thread left) for $200 (about a third their worth).

Jim, Other than wheels, there really was not much there for the 924/944/968 crowd.
I did see a Saratoga roof (way over rated and way over priced IMHO) for $600.
I promptly called dino, but he wanted the silver tint not the bronze tint.

If one owns a 911 there was parts galore. But I, and others have posted, that the actual swap meet and number vendors this year was smaller than ever. Hope Pete had a good day.

Pat,
I happened to be there when that Saratoga roof sold for $500.

Didn't find the cheap 16" wheels I wanted for my snow tires. Dino's friend got the best deal out there.

I did score some great food and conversation and a bit of a sun burn.
Great day!

And ony lucky raffle winner scored Flash's car. He will probably figure that out when he gets back to CA and opens the trailer up.

Nice set of (4) 17" rims and black center caps with painted crests. Working clock plus various polishing goodies to make a purse out of a sow's ear. Not to mention the Porterfield pads Flash brought with him from the west coast: thanks again Bob! It was great to meet you in person.

A little incident a couple of days earlier made me put on my list an instrument cluster bezel and a clockspring cover. Got both - but I wouldn't consider them "cool", just needed.

Added to the people and Kathy's goodies, I'd say I scored quite well.

I will add:
Jim (still in drivers suit) and I had a great conversation about racing lines at Pocono IMSA course/which sucks.
Sounds like he's starting to get the groove.

Thanks for that addition, Pete. That was a helpful discussion...and I was very glad that I still had the suit on, given the cool evening for the top-down drive from Pocono to Hershey.

I saw the Saratoga top. It was right behind the IMA stall. Looked at and it seemed to be in good shape. I just couldn't afford the $600 for it. Maybe it's just not meant for me to have a Saratoga. I got some advice from the Car Care Specialities guy on putting a shine back on my Fikses. He recommended some P21 stuff. Didn't really have a lot of time to look around between IMA and the 968 group. Not really I need much for my car just want to get the turbo installed.

Cosimo,

It was great to meet Ivan, please thank him for speaking on Saturday night at the dinner, sorry he got cut off by the live music.

Ivan showed me some dyno charts and I was blown away. No matter what dyno one is using, the potential for 600+ HP on a 968 engine is stunning. I can't wait to hear more. Ivan and Flash had a really good discussion in the lobby after dinner, they are very much on the same page. It is obviuos that IMA has their act together.

Jay, thanks for inviting us to speak to the 968ers. Yes, it seemed that Flash and Ivan were on the same page on how to increase the performance of 968s. Now it up to us to show that the turbo is a viable upgrade. Hopefully we can get it installed by the end of May as we getting very busy and in need of another mechanic to help with the day to day servicing. Thanks for putting all this together, sorry there was no fun run as I think that was missing from previous celebrations.

I was disappointed that we couldn't have the fun run, but I was concerned about safety and the folks who showed up for the "Driver's Meeting" all said that we shouldn't risk it.

Darryl has promised to keep the route and perhaps we will have a chance to use it in the future.

Jay,

I wouldn't say that ALL of the drivers didn't want to take the risk...

As it turned out, the "California Eggs Benedict" was a satisfying alternative.

Hey Blue!
I assume you and Diana didn't find the Classic Grey dash without cracks for $100 either.
Maybe next time.

True Jamie,

You win the award for bravery.

I would have done it myself, but as a host felt a responsibility towards other owners. Oh well, maybe next year.
