It's been relisted a few times never fetching mor that about 6-7k. Notes inidcate a repaint but no indication of what body work has been done. Odometer was replaced but no indication of actual mileage. No indication of timing/balance belt replacement of other maintenance.
I've got questions into the seller on these items.
Looks nice in the pics, and interior looks decent.
I dont think the seats are original. Stitching looks close, but the rear magazine holders and plastic piece at the top of the back don't look standard. Neither do the electic controls for moving the seat.
I do like that there has been a rear seat coversion, but not sure why they removed the belts (bolts are there).
Any insight of carfax info appreciated. Looking to step back into a 968 Cab and don't mind doing some work to get a good price.
Thanks
Chris

Thanks for all the quick feedback. The more eyes on these listings the better the catches.
I'm still waiting on feedback from the seller on some questions, but in the end, I want more than a nicely dressed up beater, so I'm leaning against it.
Between the lack of documented mileage, wheels, possible timing belt change needed, and aftermarket top withough clips or cover, it's looking like an easy 3-6k to bring it up to snuff.
It's still very tempting though for someone who want's a good looking 968 and can overlook the details. I'll post the email feedback as soon as I receive it.
Note: I just saw another black cab in Miami that looks better cared for and some nice cosmetic mods.. Florida and Texas cars always make me a bit nervous, but I got my last 968 in Jax Florida and it exceeded my expectations.

Wow, must have been an optimistic, or naive, buyer. I think there is a LOT of money needed to bring that car up to spec. But I guess if you're looking for a project, it could be fun.

I received the email from the seller right around the time of auction close. They weren't able to add much clarity in their response other that there had been a timing belt change. Hopefully the buyer is enjoying their new ride. A 968 in any condition is something to be proud of.....Email pasted below:
"There's no evidence that it has body filler, and do believe that it was painted due to paint oxidation. Yes, there's a sticker in the engine bay that states that the timing belt and water pump were done at 51k in may of 2007, and the car performs beautifully. No we do not know how many miles were on it, and we do not have a Carfax on it but you can pull one as the VIN # is on the auction site.
Best of luck in your bidding, the reserve is very close!!"

I've seen that car on ebay quite a bit. The rims and rear seat makes it memorable. Pretty sure the alst auction ended around 6K. I wonder if the buyer will follow through with payment. I wonder if he/she will join our forum and read these posts

This car had so many issues I think it was wise to give it a pass. There will always be opportunities.
If the "all in" cost of a 968 is $20k (if you believe this) then, this buyer has $12k worth of repairs/deferred maintenance to look forward to.... from what I observe about this car I think the required investment will be higher than $20k. The wheels must go, immediately!

But I agree w/ Jay. Between the rims the back seat mod and the roof. It doesn't leave you with the impression that this is a well cared for car. With so many visible short cuts taken it leaves one to wonder, what about what you cant see?
