Yellow or not, that thing is a parts car. It may be worth restoring because of the color, but not for 9k. Id give a k or two...if I had the room, and the want for another project.

The car is not a factory Speed Yellow cab. Notice the gray interior (all SY cabs had black) but the big thing is in the engine bay. You can clearly see it was a repaint. Would have been worth while project had it been a real SY cab.

I'm sure his reserve is set a lot higher than the parts car that it is...

egebhard - correct. Factory SY is so rare it would be worth trying to bring back. At least I would try. The black underhood tells the story.

Does anyone have the part number for the extra cab safety latch and do you know if the patina finish was a factory option?

I'm thinking it would be 944 OMG WTF 00?

Really sad... that car actually has negative value...If they gave it to you for free it would take at least $20k to bring it back to life, and it might be worth $15k....

Oh well, makes our 968s more valuable,

I think there's a part missing on my cab. I don't have that really cool clasp lock on my top. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

The car was originally Slate Gray. I seem to recall photos someone took of a SY cab on a flatbed years ago and it sure looks like the same car. Hurting machine.

What *must* have gone wrong to install those latches on the cab top, and what else could possibly have gone wrong that the owner could (or would) not afford to fix properly?!

It's up to $5,000 now! Sagging tail lights, cheezy dash applique's and all...

Crazy. You can get a good working car for $7K. I would pay an extra 2 or 3 thousand just so I don't have to vacuum mouse turds out of the carpet or clear out a Raccoon's nest.
