frankly i am glad he lists them for as much as he does - he usually gets it too - he also usually only deals with the best examples - this only helps the market - who wants these cars to continue to plummet in value? seeing them go for top dollar is a very good thing

Mark, you should know that just because an auction closed without reserve being met, that does not mean the car did not sell. I've purchased both my 968s off EBay ads, but not through EBay. You have no idea what the car sold for and quite frankly it doesn't matter. All that matters is that here is a great example of a fine Porsche model that we should all want to sell for that price. Try to duplicate it...

eBay literally = "wholesale central"



Most sellers with anything of value merely use eBay as effective advertising. Besides, how many times have you been stuck with a "winning bidder" who never consumates the deal with payment (let alone payment-in-full).



The sad reality is that eBay is flawed-at-best. Not that Craigs List is any better, but it may exist as a back-lash against "final value fees" (for items that were never paid for). Oh, but you get to "re-list" for free!



To obtain the Himberot 968, I had to scramble and "pay up" for the car. Don't think for a minute that there's a nickle to be make "flipping" 968s.



Besides, what I believed was the "holy grail" of M030 968s cost me a small fortune. As for this 968, based on my experience and the car's condition, it is the "holy grail" cousin of my M030 example.



For a street 968, I prefer the stock suspension. However, I still like to have factory LSD. Also, even though it's spring, I've been know to use the heated seats for sore muscles while enjoying the AC! As such, I like the way the Himberot 968 is optioned.

yup - i bought mine off of ebay - by that i mean that the car was listed on ebay, but i called the owner and bought it away from ebay - reserve was never "met", but i can assure you he got a lot more than that - it was the one i wanted, and paid for it without hesitation

SB and Porsche- I understand how eBay works. It was implied in the post I quoted that it sold in the linked auction, I was just pointing out that it did not. Yes, eBay is a great place to get you product viewed by a large audience.

Ture, but it did sell because of that auction listing which brought attention to the car. I sold my last cab the same way. Someone contacted me after I listed it and asked "how much to end the auction early?". I said my price, it was agreed, I got my deposit and the auction was cancelled. I owned my last cab for over 10 years so it definately wasn't a flip.

Thank you for your support and kind words.



The stock black wing definitely works on this 968. However, I'm a big fan of the color matched wing and wheels options (e.g., Factory CS look).



As such, I'm having the wing painted to match this week. I also have three sets of Genuine Porsche M030 wheels (e.g., 7.5x17 & 9x17), so I'm going to "color match" a set of wheels as well!!!



Yes, it'll be "a lot" of Himberot Red Metallic, but for me, it's a "love it" color!



Yesterday, I swapped in an Optima SC 35 battery. As I've posted in the past, the Optima fits nicely in the battery box and has more CAs & CCAs than stock!



Also, as you know, the Optima is completely sealed, maintenance free, long-lifed and worry free (I put an Optima in all my P-cars!).
