Anyone have a halo seat installed?
#1

So does anyone have a halo seat in their 968?

Great intentions and focused on safety I bought a Sparco halo seat. Been fighting with it today trying to get it installed, after adjusting the side mounts and the sliders I'm pretty close. But looking at the seat just sitting there I'm not sure I would even be able to get into the car. Put in the sliders thinking sliding it back would allow for room but doesn't look like it.

Others?

Pete at RS Barn tried a Racetech seat with similar dimensions and could not make it work. I think that with the sliders, it may be doable but still makes it for very difficult entrance and egress. In his opinion too tight and becoming more of a risk. I agreed, especially if one assume that the sliders functionality may be rendered inoperable in certain cases just with a little chassis "tweak" in case of an incident. Therefore, imho, if I can't get out of it in 10 seconds or less without having to move the sliders (after shutting the ign master switch off, activating fire suppression, removing steering wheel, unbuckling belts, unbuckling net, and opening door), then I dont want it....

I think that if you are tall and tend to seat all the way back, it will work better....

Good luck with the seat install.... I have learned that even though it is one of the "easiest" looking, exciting, most effective/beneficial upgrades, it is also 9 out of 10 times the biggest pain in the &^%$#$%^& A_ _ as they never, ever, seem to go in without issues in our cars....!

Pablo,

Thanks, think I'm getting to the point of giving up, tried with and without sliders. While I could squeeze in (without helmet), with sliders was just too high, not sure the helmet would fit, took the sliders out, brought out the helmet this time, but I couldn't even get the helmet on.

I do know one guy that had his floor lowered.

I hear ya... Looks VERY tight. I also do not run sliders because of the height issue. I actually run the seat a lot like yours... Fairly reclined at the max lower position on the brackets. And, I take the bottom cushions out. I leaves the steering wheel a little higher that optimal for the seating position, but it gives me much better helmet clearance and I like it much better. I do like to be further back than the avergae racer, and low. I was going to look into reducing the angle and lowering the steering colum but I have not had a chance to look into it.

Back to the pics, those are some fairly long side head restrain extensions. I think the only way we can really make them work in our cars is to have shorter ones perhpas custome made by a shop like Kirkey Racing. But then again, I am not a fan of alum seats....

I presume you wear a Hans... That makes it even harder.... I wear a Hybrid R3 which gives me a little more maneuverabilty....

Good luck! Let us know how it works out....

I had challenges getting the Kirkey Road Race seat in my car the way I wanted. Also like to be lower for more head clearance. Took out the sliders last season to make for more room between my head and the front roll bar hoop. I'd also like the halo seat for improved head restraint but just don't see the room. Rather be able to get out fast if the car is in a dangerous spot, like burning...

I agree with Pablo that those extensions seem long. You might be able to cut them down yourself and make some additional room.

I sold mine. After mounting the seat all the way back and on the floor, I still didn't have enough room to get in and out easily. (944 track car)

Yes, I've pretty much given up on the halo seat, will be heading up to sit in a EVO2 today. I think the cage is also working against me, can someone else measure theirs, mine could of been closer to the door and closer to the roof I think but I'm no expert. I also tried removing the padding and angled it back all the way I could.
