The price is normal. Some have installed them. I believe Flash has this one in his 968. The dual mass flywheel masks vibrations that you will feel with a single mass flywheel installed. Your driving style might need to be adapted to deal with the lower momentum maintained by the lighter flywheel.

I researched light weight flywheels when changing my clutch and personally would go with http://specclutch.com/ instead. I spoke to the owner of SPEC who has two 951s and seemed like he would provide excellent support and was very flexible on specs and prices for buying a flywheel and clutch kit.

There also was a factory single mass flywheel for the turbos. This one is very hard to find if at all possible. Flash claims to have a sachs part number but years after that claim has not been able to find it.

Thanks, I understand the ups and downs of losing the DMFW and having the LWFW. I was just curious about the brand. I also thought the LWFW was more closer to 700-800 dollars

SPEC offered a clutch, pressure plate and flywheel packagel for ~ $1K. The factory DMF is hard to find new for much less than $800.

i do, in fact, have the fidanza - i mated a 3200# pressure plate to it with a stock disk - having driven aluminum flywheels for 25 years, i was already a fan of the concept, so when i had the opportunity, i did not hesitate for an instant to install it in this car

phenomenal!!! absolutely everyone who drives my car immediately notices the dramatic improvement in acceleration and ease of downshift

ok - that's the good news - now the bad news:

some people will not master of have the capacity for the feel required though to drive it smoothly or on a regular basis - valets will likely stall your car, or add alot of wear to the clutch trying not to - you need to develop the technique for blipping the throttle on EVERY downshift, and upshifting quickly - otherwise, you get very abrupt shifts, and a lot of whiplash - if you commute the car, this mod is NOT for you

also, you can expect to get no more than 40k miles from a disk - i recommend changing at 25k to avoid having to replace the pressure plate

there is a noticable rattle that is a rsult of the loss of the damping of the DMF - it occurs at approximately 2300 rpm, is more noticable on decelration than acceleration (because you spend less time going up than going down) - it sounds like a coffee can full of nuts and bolts - if noise bug you, this is NOT for you

also, there is a bit more vibration at the shifter - again, because the damping is gone - if vibrations bug you, this is NOT for you

you absolutely MUST balance your pressure plate and flywheel both individually, and as an assembly - without the dual masses of the DMF to absorb out of balance issues, you will not be happy with the result if you fail to balance them

the price there is ok - new is about 500 - you will need a new pressure plate, disk, and a balance - you should also change the release bearing, pilot, and fork bearings as well, and look closely at the rear seal - so, you're in for close to a grand in parts alone

please understand that i LOVE this mod - however, my car is a toy - i would not recommend this to anyone who is not prepared to treat the car much more like a race car - it will require more investment, more maintenence, and a lot more attention to your driving - the payoff, if you can commit to these things, is great, but it is definitely not for everybody

as for the Sachs flywheel, i never wrote down the part number - i believe it was jeff hinkle that gave it to me - if anybody can contact him............. - also, there was another thread recently where somebody said they had the number - not sure which site, or who it was though
