Another set of fixed headlights
#1

Someone went through allot of work to make a 944 look like an ugly 968.

But here's another iteration of fixed headlights.

I bet almost every one of us has at one time wondered if we could design a cool looking car. Well now there's at least one person out there who know the answer to that question.

I can't decide how i feel, i would have to see it in person. I can say this, i would not buy this car.

Those headlights look awful horizontal to be fixed. It looks like they'd do a great job of illuminating the sky - the road, not so much

I'm not feelin it.

The front almost works but I find that my eye keeps being drawn to all the seams from the separate body panels. That last side shot looks really bad. I think the rear looks OK, I would add the 968 wing.
Perhaps its still a work in progress.

i've got mixed emotions about it

the headlights appear to be a rectangular single light behind a perspex cover - not likely to be a great beam, and i don't like being able to see the light behind the cover

not digging the hood vents either

i like the higher fender humps, and for the most part, the front end

not digging the side ducts at all - it isn't a rear engine car after all

the tail could have been different - i would have liked to see the hatchback glass gone, and a real trunk and rear window

gotta give them credit for trying though

Made me recall the hatch replacements that were around in the 924 days. Do you mean like this picture? Since someone did such a large amount of modifications on this 968 look alike, appears every panel was reworked, I wonder what the result would have been like with one of these panels that removes the hatch glass.

i have seen that drop-in before

not what i was thinking, but not all that far from the concept either

in my mind, if they started with a cab rear, with the real trunk lid, instead of a hardtop rear and trying to modify a hatch, and then mated the cab trunk to the hardtop, they would really have something

this is more like what i was thinking

Frankly, I like it a lot better than a regular 944.. not sure if I like it as much as a 994 S2, but the jury is still out on that.
I think a different paint job and color ( amazon green, midnight blue, stc.. ) might make the pronounced mods a bit less so, and it could look even better.

BTW, I for one, don't like fixed headlights.. not just in this car but in any 968. To each his own, though..

P.S. I'm talking about the first car, not the ricer 944 below. Yikes on that one !

It almost looks like an Amston Martin DB7 or zagatto. But I am wondering if it isn't Chrystler Neon lights.

Good effort though, but not succesful in my opinion.

What about this fixed headlight (and more) conversion. A dutch company uses the 944 (968?) drivetrain and part of the body structure to make their version of what they claim the 944 should have been. See also http://www.heynsdyk.com/fotos/index.aspx

I looked at the website. Though I like some of the features it gives me the "not quite there..." feeling...
