Hi all,

Just noticed the topic discussing that there are more Dutch 968 drivers than there are in Georgia, US. Well, if this wasn't the case already, here's another new 968 owner [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

I will add some pics later, because I didn't have a chance yet to take any decent ones. Anyway, soon a midnight blue metallic coupe with 17" cup 1's can be spotted on Dutch tarmac!

Forgot to mention some of my background. You could call me the example transaxle owner. Soon after getting my driver's license, I bought a 1983 924. Unfortunately I was very naive back then, and thought I bought a very decent car for very little money. This wasn't even close to reality, and not much later I shed a small tear bringing my 924 to the junkyard.
However, few weeks later I bought a '84 Zermatt Silber 944, which I drove for 6 years until 2 months ago.

I only have pics so far from the day I picked it up, and it was pretty dirty from the transport. Yesterday I washed and waxed it, I will try to take some pics soon [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

@Johan, yeah I have an account there, but you could classify me as a lurker. Too much 'if it's not a 911 it's not a Porsche' attitude there usually. But you might find me post there every once in a while ;-)

There is quite an active 968 group on the dutch forum.

Have a look here http://www.porscheforum.nl/viewtopic.php...&hilit=968 this is where the 968 guys plan the bi monthly get togeter to tinker and talk 968.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that one yet. My comment was more referring to the 924/944 community. I think they are better represented at 'the other' Dutch forum. Would be fun to meet some fellow Dutch 968 owners, but first I got to get it to the RDW to get it approved for Dutch roads, since I imported this car [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

Very soon you will feel part of "the family" and you won't even remember this "adoption" period! [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]
I understand your frustration at this stage, but you soon realize that it promotes a sense of "seriousness" on the part of those who are active membersandthose who truly desire to be included in this forum.

Thanks for the encouragement, Johann and Jake. I can understand the way of thinking behind this most rigid and strict rules I've ever seen on any forum so far (but I have to say, I don't visit Chinese ones, if they are even allowed to exist by law..), however, I will need some serious time to get used to it.

That being said, I'm sure it is worth to get used to it, as in my short stay here I've already seen a lot of friendly and knowledgeable people [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]

it's not that they are so rigid, as they are designed to discourage spammers and lookie loos, and to encourage participants and friends

this is NOT a chat board and dump site, like so many other sites, but more a library resource and meeting place - consequently we have a number of "filters" in place, and mechanisms to teach new users how the site works, so they don't just jump in without first reading and learning

i highly recommend reading the Tutorial - it will explain a LOT

lol - no worries - we are completely spam free, and have been for over 2 years now, so it is definitely working - we also don't have the redundant and repetitive "will these wheels fit?" sort of threads, due largely to the "hoops" that people have to jump through as a newer member - forcing people to read first, before posting in many areas, facilitates the learning process, and teaches people to browse the site and discover all the cool stuff here, in all the different areas of the site

but we let them loose pretty quickly, so even those hoops aren't all that tough to get beyond

I see that I'm having the same problems as you have in getting alloud to enter some subjets. I spoke to Johan yesterday in person and he told me this forum is a "must" for a 968 owner, so now i'm trying to be more active on this forum.
I have a '94 968 myself, colour Aventura green. I hope to be able to post some pictures later on.
