An interesting colour

This one's for sale on eBay. As the add says, a rare colour indeed.

That's code 57, violet blue metallic, a standard metallic color offer in 92 and 93. Only 1 cab in that color in the NA and a few coupes. Rene has one of the coupes.

i love those wheels, too bad they are too damn heavy....otherwise i would have a set of 18" Ruf Classics on my car. Saw Rene's car in person a couple years ago. Nice color.

Do you have a link to the ad? I can't find it when I searched EBay.

hey Bob, do you like the painted wheels with the outside edge in silver any better? For the 968, I believe that is the way they actually should be.

better, but still don't like it so much - wheels are like jewelry - painted wheels are like cheap costume jewelry - again though, it has such a dated and cheap look - that was a stunt kids did back in the 80s when they couldn't afford to get real wheels

back then there weren't as many wheels from which to choose either, so that may have been the motivating spark that fueled this concept

My wheels were re-finished in paint code VOL 932. Same color Volvo 850 R wheels came from the factory (Anthracite).

varying in shades of silver or grey is an exception for me - i have seen some rims painted in a darker grey or charcoal that looked pretty decent, though the lips were almost always polished - it's a very subjective thing, and definitely car color specific

the ones i think look silliest are body color rims, especially the solid colors (red, yellow, blue, etc)

Hideous wheels! I just got mine back from the painter and after a long deliberation I ended up getting them painted silver just as they were. The painter wanted to do them in Porsche Titan grey. I asked all the neighbours and friends, they all loved the colour but my son and I weren't convinced about dark wheels on a Midnight Blue car. I"m glad we decided not to colour the wheels.

good call - when it comes to this, the term "gilding a lily" comes to mind

Flash, all,

What would you think about a Polar Silver coupe (mine) with polar silver wheels instead of the silver the comes on the wheels? Mine need refinishing and I have been thinking about using the same shade of silver.
