I have a 1992 968 Cabriolet that came with the following options regards the stereo system:
What would the correct AM/FM Cassette unit have been from the factory (a Blaupunkt 'Acapulco' head unit and remote CD unit are installed in the car presently)?
Can anyone shed some light on what comprised the 'Sound Package' option?
Also, where would the amplifier have been located in the car by the factory?
I opened up the driver's side door to get at the window tracks to lubricate them, and when I removed the lower door cover with the speaker grill, I found a void where a tweeter would've been, a coaxial speaker where the woofer(?) should've been, and some kind of circuit board with all sorts of components on it, glued to the door panel proper. It certainly doesn't look to be a factory installation, and as fussy as I am about my cars, I'd like to get this sorted out and back to some semblance of a factory installation (not saying that's going to give me the best audio performance in the world).
Any thoughts, insights, ideas would be most appreciated.
