I seem to recall a post about this and can't remember if it was to say that it didn't work in the 968 or if someone was recommending it. Can't seem to get the search to come up with anything. Has anyone tried a cupholder like this that attaches to the seat rail?

Automotion has a similar holder that attaches to end of seat rail called Evo Super Cup Holder. Similar item at AutoAtlanta. In both cases the application indicates all 911's and 944's through 1998. Specifically says not for 968. I suspect because Automotion never heard of 968.

Can anyone confirm that this type of holder works in 968?

Its the same seats and rails in all three cars. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work.

Thanks Ryan. I just got a response from Pelican who also sells this cupholder and they said the same thing. So I'm going to order it and will follow up after I've confirmed same.

Received the Evo cup holder from Pelican. It does attach to the seat rail as advertised. Unfortunately, it will not work for me because I have coco mats on top of carpet mats. Basically this causes the arm of the holder to lay right on the mat so it cannot function to hold anything. The arm should be an inch or better above floor to work properly. The holder is very well built out of cast aluminum. I will be returning.

Coco mats. How about a pic of them? Had them in college and often wondered what they would look like in our cars!

Has anyone tried the 9xauto cup holder?  Pricey at $56 but seems like a nice design that wouldn't interfere with anything.  My better half is tired of holding her water bottle........ I'm worried about it spilling on the floor if she's not holding it.

Yup, I have that holder in both 968s. Not the easiest place to reach when you're driving, but not too bad either .

I think the only drawback might be for those who get their coffee or other drinks in the " mega super-sized grande extra x 2 " cup size which could tip over during an off camber turn because tne retainer low profile rim , but otherwise I think it's worth the cost ..

I have a flat square cup holder that I screwed to the passenger side footwell. It flips open casuing to adjustable fingers to open at the top. very sturdy.

Thanks, Dan. It does seem like it would be a little hard to reach but I stick my coffee thermos alongside the left side of drivers seat anyway.  Usually coffee doesn't last that long in my cup anyway.  Now, at my age, I also need a "relief tube" design as well. But, my wife will now be happy again! Esp for the long drive to S. Lake Tahoe. Beer

This piqued my interest so I did a little surfing. Pelican parts in NLA but look what I found. Sounds like the answer you’re looking for. (Me, too)

I picked up one of these last month.   Slides between the center console and the passenger seat.    Easily removable if you have a passenger who wants more room.   Works GREAT and matches my interior, too!   MUCH better than the slide between the window and door type I used previously.

Bill, if you want to post a photo ( assuming it’s in your album ) , at the bottom of the post screen you’ll see a tab “ more reply options “. Click on that , and it’ll open  an “ attach files “ link, then “ choose file “ , then “ select the  “ photo library “, it’ll show you all your photos , click on the photo you want to select , then click on “ attach file “ , and then “ add to post “.
