After a long wait...it's finally home.

Picked up the 968 from the body shop today, finally. Since I dropped it off with a dented fender and scratches in the paint on nearly every panel in November, it's undergone a full exterior strip/sand/smooth and refinish. I told them they could work on it over the winter, since I wouldn't be driving it through the winter anyway. The D1R splitter arrived in April and I had thought the car would be ready after painting all the parts - but re-assembly brought a whole series of other minor broken parts issues and it quickly turned into a few months with the amount of work the shop was also getting.

Anyway, it's as much of a blast to drive as I remembered. I'll take some real pictures this weekend. It was dark when I got home with it.

Just glad to have it back. Now onto the fun project of building a new garage to house it and the other two cars...

Also to note - I scraped the underside of the lip on some bumpy pavement within 2 minutes of leaving the shop. Thanks M030.

Looks good. Good luck on the garage! Offer still stands. He was actually intrigued by what you might be considering. And he is interested only from a professional standpoint, not to bid. Besides I need him to finish mine!

Very happy with how the paint turned out. There is very little orange peel reflection with the lights reflecting on it. Also got a Ventureshield clear bra custom cut for it - covers the bumper, 16" up the hood (which you see in the photo), splitter, the bottom halves of the rings around the headlights, and the mirrors. Wish they had done the whole front of the fenders, but didn't have any interaction with the shop - body shop had them do it before I picked it up. Anyway, it was $400 for the clearbra.

Already scraped some paint off the underside of the splitter pulling into the garage here at work. I think I'm going to need some 2x4's to get in and out safely...ugh.

I see you went with body color on the splitter - nice. You've convinced me that that's what I'm going to do when I'm ready to paint mine. I can see how the bottoms of these things are really going to take a beating, but that's the nature of the beast, I suppose. I'm just hoping mine makes it out of my driveway intact <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> .

I was driving home from picking my car up from the shop and stopped to get some gas and of course not thinking breezed into a gas station. The noise was gut wrenching. Its like you have to relearn driving!

If you could believe the "other" forum, that splitter would be in a million pieces right now.

Adam, looking at those pics makes me want new paint reeeeel bad. There are three different shades of black on the passenger side of my car from previous paintwork in the car's murky past. Of course no one can see it but me, and maybe Flash, but still...
