Fuel Injector Removal
#1

Don't worry, I'm just consolidating this info here from another thread I saw. I personally wouldn't know anything about this

To remove your fuel injectors: (originally posted by PorscheG96)

Remove the fuel rail cover [big PORSCHE lettering on it] that's held on with four small allen screws.

Remove the black plastic cover underneath the metal one you just took off.

It's your choice of how you wish to drain the fuel from the rail. I'd go ahead and remove the fuel line going straight to back of the rail [not the one coming from fuel pressure regulator]. This requires a 17mm and 19mm wrench. (Possibly both are 19mm) Orient the wrenches like a 'V' and squeeze the ends together to loosen the fuel line. Have a large towel handy and drain all the fuel.

The fuel rail is fastened to the intake manifold by four 10mm screws [two on top and two below]...remove those.

Now unplug the electrical connection from each injector.

Pull the fuel rail upward [with injectors attached] off of the intake manifold, each injector will pop out freeing the rail with injectors.

Each injector is fastened to the fuel rail with a small clip. Slide the clip out and remove injectors.

When replacing the injectors, it doesn't matter if they go back into the same slot. You will want to use a silicon spray on the O rings when you reinstall the injectors. The torque on them should be 6-8 lbs/ft. Also, make sure you catch the rectangular silicon seals the injectors sit on between themselves and the harness.

Why do this? Many people feel this should be done around 80K to 100K miles, and makes as much difference in performance as installing an aftermarket chip. It has been suggested that they be sent out to Marren (www.injector.com) for this service. Cost is about $100.

Hope that helps. If any of it is in correct, don't blame me J/K, just let me know and I'll update.

I'm planning this as a project to be done during my summer vacation - remove the injectors and send them to Marren just before leaving, and install them immediately upon returning. Thanks for the DIY posting.

Nice consolidation! I was the one who "woke up" that thread on the other forum and will be doing this soon. Given what I've heard, I have high hopes for a smoother idle and some additional power at WOT.

Is it pretty quick getting these things in and out? How was the turn around from injector.com?

Marren turned mine around very quickly when I had mine done a few years ago - a few days, iirc.

I had mine done by Witchhunter, it was about 80 bucks and the turn around was about 7days.
17.00 per injector for clean and flow and they give you a printout of before and after , new o rings included.

They are in washington state www.witchhunter.com

P.s. no matter who you send them to "number each injector as you take them out,zip locks work great"

OK, why number them if it doesn't matter where they go back in??

Did you feel any difference seat of the pants or get better mileage??? Just wondering.

It's just for reference when they flow test injectors. But I pulled my plugs and numbered them also, and when i got
the injectors back #2 and #3 were leaking when they tested them and the 2 and 3 plugs had more buildup on them.

There wasn't much on the butt ometer, but I did notice a much faster and cleaner startup because of less leakdown.
