Accusump for 968
#1

Several of my track friends run with an accusump to help keep the oil pressure uniform, especailly during hard cornering. Has anyone used one? What are the other tricks out there to keep the oil pick-up / return tubes (and the #2 rod baring) from becomming damaged during hard track use?

What exactly is an accusump? There's been a fair amount of discussion about this on the board lately, and it sounds like something I could use as well. Thanks.

I think for sure, it is a good thing. What I wonder is if anyone using one can tell us how they connected to the 968 oil sytem. And if using the Accusump has helped maintain constant oil pressure on the track. They make several sizes and have a lot of fittings, etc.

I'm trolling ebay for a used accusump setup - great inexpensive motor insurance. I'm building a 968 ITR race car and the acccusump can be connected using a sandwich plate beneath the oil filter. Mount the accusump in the footwell of the passenger seat or in the rear of the car depending on how much braided oil line you want to run. Get the manual valve model.

I'm also considering a windage tray which helps mitigate oil starvation on long sweepers like the right hander at WGI after the bus stop or the lightbuld at NJMP. The accusump will detect if there is a loss of oil pressure and will feed oil into the motor - accusump is air pressurized.

A crank scraper can also be used. RS Barn offers a combo crank scraper/windage tray. The crank scraper sheds oil off the crank and adds some tiny power gain from the reduced weight on rotating parts.

Who sells the sandwich plate (underneath the oil filter) for the 968? I have looked for one, but did not find one.....

I found a sandwich plate on ebay for $50 and I believe Canton Motorsports sells the plat for $70 - they also make the accusump systems.
