I think I may be missing a part. I am installing a 968 engine into my 944. I have a 968 throttle cable installed but I think I am missing a piece from where it connects to the throttle body. There must be some small (plastic?) part that fits onto the throttle "arm" that keeps the end of the throttle cable "in place". I cannot find any illustration of how this is supposed to connect in either the 968 workshop manual or the parts manual.



Does someone know the part I am talking about or can someone please post a close-up photo of how the accelerator cable is connected to the throttle body?

Tony, I cannot take a picture right now, but I looked at the throttle body connection for the cable and did not find any plastic part. There is a metal bracket which the cable goes through but no plastic part. There is a plastic wheel with a groove in it that the cable runs over before it gets to the throttle body. good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Thanks for your reply. I have attached a rough diagram of the "problem" (unless there really isn't a problem) that I am trying to solve. When I connect the end ot the throttle cable to the throttle body connection, there is nothing that keeps the end ot the accelerator cable from moving around inside the opening that it fits into. It seems to me that there should be another part that somehow fits over the end of the cable and into the part on the throttle body arm that keeps the end of the accelerator cable from moving around inside the opening.

Tony, on closer examination I do see a black plastic piece that is inside of the metal brakcet and serves to retain the cable end to the throttle body actuating arm. I do not see a part number on it, but Sunset Imports or some other parts outlet should have it on their parts diagram. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Thanks for checking. I studied the parts diagram and think I have located the part, called a "clip". It stands all by itself in the upper right hand corner of the page that shows the intake manifold and round pulley for the throttle cable. The part number is 964.423.435.00. I just ordered it from a Porsche dealer - it sells for $3.47. The Porsche parts guy also guessed that this may be the part, but was not exactly sure. How wrong can you go for $3.47?
