Had a great drive up to PA last Friday. Perfect weather, a sunny, 80 degrees and a nice breeze. My nav took me through some wooded twisty back roads, nothing like an open roof and fresh air. Actually, I had to go over 50 miles away from Newtown first to pick up a set of 18” Rims. I'll be installing them later.
So after finally finding German ave, I met the famous Pete in person. He took me through the shop, showed me a few cars, then we went for a spin in my car. First thing of note was my clutch. It was replaced by the PO but I have no paper work on it. "Feels too heavy" say's Pete. So he's gonna take a look at that. The 2nd point was a good one for the forums. He explained the problem with modding the airbox and not adding the chip. I’m actually running too lean. If anyone has done the AB mod the chip should be done at the same time. Out side of that things seemed fine with my car. Of course he has to get it in the air to go over it well but I do feel its in good hands.
Eagerly awaiting his eval.
A few pics
The Barn
A 968 Turbo. The wing is really interesting. But I believe he told me to get one would cost me about $1500
A little fun with a Carrera S on I95.
What was he thinking running with a 968?
I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->More on this please. I have not read this before. I did the airbox but I'm too lazy to change the chip. Is this a serious problem for the engine? Lean can be bad.
ps - what is the RS for btw (i get the BARN part now)?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'm not that guy you go to for tech talk. But I will try to reiterate Petes advice.
Pete took his his little pad in which he was taking notes on my car and drew a curved line showing the efficiency of the stock 68. As the line curved he circled the sweet spot which is about 4k RPM ( right in the middle of his line) and highlighted that in Germany not only are emissions tested and strict but so is noise levels. Then he drew a line parallel, about an 1/8" above the other. Showing how a greater intake of air offsets the numbers factored in with the orig software. This pushes the sweet spot back to 5000 and causes everything to work harder as the car is running too lean across the board. Not a dangerous thing to do but your not helping anything.

I wish you all would let me know when you are going to the Barn- I work about 15 minutes from there and would love to meet other 968 owners!<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Didn't cross my mind. I will let you know when I come to pick the car up in a couple of weeks.
BTW- Nice town. I'd like to grab lunch at local spot before heading back home next time.

I think that black 68 in your first pic is my race car that Pete and Max are building out. It's at the cage fabricator now.
Big final push to get it ready for the SCCA National race where I will run in STU - that's the class for the former World Challenge Touring cars. Then I'll run in the Pro IT race Sunday racing the car in it's true class ITR or Improved Touring - R is the fastest of the IT classes. ITE is for "E = everything" no rules so I don't count that class other than a catch all for the misfits that don't line up with the classes that enforce the rules.
Hoping we make it!

Nope, yours was on the lift inside. He had about 3 other 68s out back also. He told me a bit about your project. Was that LSD Max was banging on for your car? Pete really liked this new LSD which, get this, Toyota has now purchased the company!
The bk 68 in pic 1 is mine and if you zoom in you will see me on the left and Pete on the right. My buddy had the cam.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I'm confused about the chip issue. Pete sold me a stock chip for my 968 which had the air box mod. I don't think he would have made a mistake on this.

Call Pete and express your concern. I sure he could clear things up for you. Perhaps he'll chime in on this thread. With a title like a trip to the Barn I'm sure he'll give this topic a glance.
Oh and Pete. I think I left my ipod touch under the seat. Please keep it safe.

My car has a G50 LSD in it - pretty good for racing. I know Pete is VERY stoked on the new diff he's been testing.

If its a Friday Afternoon keep me posted. I work in Center City, but live 4 miles from RS Barn.
Meglio's Pizza is the RS Barn Hangout, but you might want to try Friends, or Green Parrot.
Perhaps an improptu run around Bucks County (I could pull out an old fun run map)?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Keep me posted! Perhaps Pete can suggest a cool place for eats. I live about 30 minutes away from Pete's, so I am not too familiar with the Newtown scene. Only really ever been to a couple of nearby pizza joints, all of which were good!<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

This is turning into a nice little meet. I really enjoyed the drive around the Newtown area and the citys I passed coming in. If weather permits, a fun run with a few friends would be awesome in my newly tuned car.
