Firefish, have you found a mag drain plug for the trans? My car is up on jackstands now as I was changing eng oil, trans fluid. found 2 small chips in the fluid, and would like to get a mag. on the plug. Also found that the fill plug and fill hole threads were mangled. Just another problem for....the car that needs nothing.... as the p.o. claimed. M22-1.5 thread chasers are expensive. Thanks G.

I just bought a tap on EBay that worked out fine. $45 for a US made one, or there is one from China for $25 (It will probably snap in the case or something though). http://cgi.ebay.com/M22-X-1-5-HSG-D6-3FL-S...=item19b9e57a44

Everything over here is metric and even though I haven't magnets myself I know of several who does. However, it should be easy enough to make one if you could find a suitable magnet - simply drill a recess in the plug and push the magnet it (secure with glue). Since it is magnetic it aint gonna go anywhere.

Looks like this plug would work as long as the magnet doesn't stick to far in.. http://www.drainplugmagnets.com/smartcar.php

Or more plugs here, http://www.magneticdrainplugs.com/metric.htm

Just noticed this will be post 911, so I think I will stop posting now..

Bandit, I ordered one from magneticdrainplugs, didn't like the way it looked, may be made for equipment rather than a car. It was too long and the way the mag was glued/epoxied on scared me a bit, plus the flange was larger around than the original, the socket hole was square, not even sure if a 3/8 ratchet was supposed to be used to tighten/loosen it. Would it work, I don't know, not going to try it. Ordered new drain plugs, may backdrill the 10mm allen hole for a magnet someday.
Was the 911 post hold out of respect for WTC, or the car? At least you do not have 14 THOUSAND !
Also found M22-1.5 taps, set of 4 on e-slay, offered $20, they are on the way, hopefully this will be a one time use.
