9x17 55mm offset fit the Front?
#1

Will the 996 9x17" 55mm offset rear fit on the front of a 968? Looking for track tire, and thought 9x17 all around might be a nice combination.

You may have to watch the "hub" part. As I recall, I tried to do the same thing with one the rear Boxster wheels that I use for snows. The center would not fit over the wheel bearing hub on that wheel.

I never would have expected that without dry-fitting it.

it's going to be extremely close, based on your ride height, how and where you drive, camber angles, whether or not you have a strut tower brace, and mostly tire choice

i have a 57mm offset up front on a 9 x 18 with a 255/35-18 S0-3 on it, and barely clear everything - because of the angle and size of the stock spring, on a 17, you could also have the added complication of spring interference that an 18 does not have

try it and see i guess

Had a freind put my race wheel on backwards. the 17x9 on the front and the 17x7.5 on the rear.

I was dueing a heat cyle run on a fresh set of hoosiers. they fit with a slight rub on the outer lip of the fender this is with the 275/40/17' So4's. it turned like never before. this is what i get for trusting a freind.:0

I still have my 94 968, but picked up a 2004 Boxster S Se. for s***s and grins i tried to mount my 285/30r18 on the front 7.5" no go. with the inner seat mounted the out bead was sillt 3.5" or so inches over the rim. got it to squeese on but thats it. could not get it to seat.

thanks Rob Falkner
