Vedder-

Search on 968.net... a few people, including myself and Anchorman, have done it using 993 airbag wheels. There is a lengthy thread.... the absolute hardest part is having the wheel machined to fit on the 968 column. It is, technically speaking, easy, but you need to find a machine shop or resource who will do it.

One note- I must question the availability of a 1994 993 airbag wheel- the first model year for the 993 was 1995 IIRC.

1995-1998 993 4-spoke steering wheels can be adapted to fit the 968. Additionally, the 3 spoke wheels found on the first generation Boxster and the 996 can be adapted to fit the 968 as well.

My preference is for the 993 4-spoke as I feel the 996 3-spoke is too out-of-place given the rest of the 968 interior.

As noted by Biotechee, I've done the conversion to the 993 airbag wheel. It's much easier than expected - but, as also noted, the machining of the wheel so that it fits properly on the shaft is a critical step. I like the look and feel, but important to me was getting rid of the two little horn buttons and having the entire airbag as the horn button. If you can't find the relevant threads on 968.net, let me know - possibly I'll have more luck.

I decided to do the search - here's the main thread: http://65.61.16.109/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7130 and related ones http://65.61.16.109/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIV...1&TOPIC_ID=6401 and http://65.61.16.109/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7072

What more can we do for you?

Biotechee--the 993 model was actually introduced in Europe in 1994, a year before the states, as was the 996 [introduced in Europe as a 1998 Model, in the US a 1999 Model]. Just FYI <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
