i've seen it too - interesting car - some nice work on the doors too, whether it's anybody's particluar taste or not

it requires a lot of sheet metal work or replacement of the fenders in fiberglass to mount 993 lights - it's not nearly "plug and play", so be prepared

the lights on that purple cab do not sit correctly either, so you'll have to deal with that too

i think the guy is a member here though, and i think jay might have contact info on him (94silvercab), since he was the one to organize the newtown event where i saw the car

Yup, lots of custom work by a decent shop....and of course, money

I thought I remember someone taking an actual 993 fender and modifying that to fit the 968....

The gentleman's name is Jeff Stokes, he used to post on .net as ONEHOT968, I haven't heard from him in some time.

If I get a chance later I'll post a pic or 2 from last year's celebration...a TON of cool mods on that car.

Regards,

Jay

that's the car

as cool as the concept is, and as clean as the work is, i wish the headlights didn't stick up past the fenders

Maybe because I really haven't seen in in life, but I think they look like they came that way. I really would like to learn more.

I plan to do it also, I don't think the bodywork will be difficult for an experienced body shop. The cost of the lights and the bodywork might be more than the improvement though.

yeah - once you see it up close, you'll probably change your mind - it sticks up enough to really catch your eye that something is wrong (about a half inch)

like i said, the concept is cool, and the quality of the work is great, but i think they missed the mark on placement of the light

it can probably be done, involving a complete relocation of the entire hole, and reshaping of the front of the fender, at the cost of about 5-600 per fender for the modification, and then another 2-300 or so each for the light, brackets, adjustment hardware, etc

there is another "solution" project in the works (not mine), but it involves replacing the fender - i'll let you know how it comes out when i see it in finished form

I know I bring this up every time the discussion about fixed headlights "pops up", but the solution Arktech came up with is by far the best execution I've ever seen. Go ahead and do a search, as I did yesterday, to see a picture of the job Arktech did, but from the picture, it doesn't look like the 993 headlight sticks up above the fender at all. To me, this is the only solution I would ever consider. No disrespect to those who have tried alternate solutions using different lights, but to me, nothing even comes close to comparing to what Arktech came up with; truly gorgeous. As with all first rate things, though, their solution is ungodly expensive - something like $3K a fender, if I remember right (though that might be for the two - still way beyond what I think most of us would consider for something that really comes down to a pretty frivolous mod).

thier solution was a complete fender replacement - it does indeed seem like the only viable solution for something that looks right

i'm looking forward to seeing what "pops" up from this other project - i should get to see a prototype in a couple of weeks

Personally I can't stand the look of the Arktech but to each his own.
