SCHWEET video! Thanks for posting that. Love those aggressive lines entering and going through turns, much more so than the other cars on the track - that's really obvious... Very motivational to see your

driving. Cool.



Is your 220 option a torque biasing or clutch type LSD? Just curious because I am about to

install one and have not decided what to put in.

Loved the video! You definately use all the track. How is getting the car back together coming? Have you been able to shed some more lbs? Are you getting more out of the slicks than being lighter?

I have a 996 Factory Supercup diff in the car. Believe it or not, it fits right in the 968 M44 Diff housing.

Someone else on this forum recently went to my mechanics (J3 racing Buford GA) and did the same thing. The cup diff allows you to be flat out almost every where. Both rear wheels lock pretty aggressively and the 968 loves it (I believe I've got 75 % lock under on power and it acts like an open diff off power upon entry to corners).





My car was wrinkled a little in the front upon an accident at the Nasa Nationals.

I am taking a year off to repair and remove more weight.



The car currently weighs 2525 lbs without driver.

We will replace rear glass with Lexan (Save 25 lbs), Gut the dash and reroute Heater Lines in Dash (Save 30 lbs), Replace 26 lbs BBS LM with 20 lb Einkei (Save 24 lbs for all four wheels), Remove Door bars and Cut out door frame (40 lbs for both doors), Remove excess sound deadening(Save 10 lbs) Replace head lamps with dummy lightweight lights (10 lbs)



Total will be 140 lbs to be deleted which will bring the car to a new weight of about 2385 lbs which should drop our lap times a every track we attend by about 1 second.

My car is making 222 rwhp on a "Mustang" dyno.

We need data on your best work on a similar Dyno.

I am interested in pursuing if we can definately get the needed

gains.



If you could take one of your cars to a Nasa approved Dyno

and report the results, that would be extremely helpful.



The Nasa approved Dyno stations are listed on the Nasa

website.

What does a stock 968 make on same Mustang Dyno





Charles,

I will look at NASA site and look for approved dynos. I thought Dynojets were the approved dynos? I have tested mods on two different Mustangs and another Eddy Currrent load dyno with similar results. I've never bothered with Dynojet due to lack of load.

The problem for me is waisting time and money repeating tests on another dyno. I would really need to take two cars. A stock and modified to get real results from a new Dyno. I've done this like 10 times already.

I just requested a list of approved Dynos from NASA in PA, NJ area

I know what these cars do on several dynos. I now need to use the DynoJet to confirm my numbers.

I was mistaken. My car was Dynoed on a Dyno Jet.

The mustang dyno is not correct.



I have heard of stock 968's turning anywhere from

195 to 205 rwhp without any mods and stock

flywheel.



My engine is stock, my headers are stock but I

do have a race exhaust.



I also have a lightweight single mass aluminum

flywheel and that's where we really improved the H.P.



When you get to a Nasa approved Dyno, we will

all be interested in the reaults because many more

would run in GTS3 if they could get enough HP

to be competitive.



Besides, I'm starting to run out of things to take

out of the car. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



Atleast on the Nasa Dyno we are all using the same standard.

Charles,

I contacted NASA and they don't approve dyno facilities only model of dyno which is Dynojet. That's the only dyno I haven't tested on. I will find a local DJ and take a stock and modified car of some sort. I have some mods that have real consistant gains on a Mustang and the new dyno I've been using (Dynocom)

It would be nice to know:



What are the gains from the

Headers?

Ported Head?

Throttle Body Mod?





These are what I do not have on my car. As we discussed before, I've got a ported

and polished head sitting in my basement. It's not been flow benched but it was

done by eagle engine hear in auburn ga and they have a pretty good rep for

this stuff.



If any of your customers reported gains in the 230 - 240 range I sure would

like to know about it.



When you report on your two cars on a DJ, Let me know which one has the lightweight flywheel.

I believe you gain any where from 6 to 10 rwhp with that thing.

Evidence of the LWFW might be a bit difficult to accomplish. The change to a LWFW for comparison testing in exact conditions might be a stretch because of the amount of tiime to switch it out. He has some other goodies that add HP also...



My car was used as "stock" for some of Pete's testing (72k with fresh head at 56k, all maintenance up to par). On the dyno we were able to quickly exchange, chip and airbox. Pete has already stipulated that the cat back adds very little to HP (but does add to throttle response).



Give Pete a call about sharing the info. I will not distribute without his permission.

Charles, I'm curious as to how much those 996 Factory Super Cup lsd's run out at if that's not impolite to ask?

We have something similar down here custom made which is quite expensive (over $3k aussie) and wonder if there is an alternative?

Here's a couple of pics of the ones we get made up in Australia. This company makes them for Guards, Ferrari, Quaife etc so they are the real deal. The big one is for you guys, the 968 is about 30% larger than for the 951 which is interesting. I'd like to see some pics of the one you have Charles if you have any to hand. As I said, way cheaper than ours so very good value for you!

I got goose bumps looking at those shinny diffs.



Unfortunately I din't get any pics, but it looks like the one in the middle of your pics.



The Cup diff also has some engraving of the purpose of use " 996 Cup blah blah blah blah"

This engraving done by hand because its a little sloppy.

Well there are 2 torsen types there, 2 full locking 80% motorsport ones for 944turbos, and the big 6 plate full locking one for a friends 968. He's about to turbocharge this car too, so I guess that's the least he can do to beef up the rear.

I'm still interested in the one you have. If it goes to open diff on backoff, then it sounds more like a Quaife type I think. For the sort of money you paid, all the racers on this forum should be phoning those guys asap to book theirs in. Great value Charles!

I have a Porsche factory 968 replacement 40% LSD for my 968 that is 40% on lock-up and 40% on decel and i got it from Guard. I would think a motorsports 80% on lock-upm would also have lock-up on decel.
