968 Rear Glass Hatch
#1

Hi - I need to locate a glass hatch for my '93 Porsche 968 project.

If anybody has a line on where to find one please email:

benspeeder@yahoo.com

I have heard that the 944 hatch will work but the rear spoiler will not fit on. Any additional perspective on this is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

PS - also calling RS Barn - they might have one

If this is for racing, why not go plexiglas?

You can find a 944 hatch complete for well under $100 locally.

Thanks guys - the threads were helpful. I'm hoping to find a complete hatch - the 968 hatch had a branch fall on it and the frame is damaged. Even the hatch sill is mildly dented and will need to be persuaded back into shape, but only about 1/8 of an inch.

I can't go lexan per the SCCA Improved Touring rules which keep the cars pretty stock except suspension, intake, exhaust.

I wasn't convinced from reading the threads that the 944 frame around the glass would match up correctly to my 968 sill or if the hinges matched up the same?

Will it for sure?

The hinge are the same.

You can easily modify the 944 hatch to incorporate the 968 spoiler.

IIRC, you will have to modify the wiring for the 3rd brake light, and drill a few holes for the hatch.

If you do a search on RL lots of people have modified 968 spoilers to fit 944's.

IMHO, it is far cheaper to modify a $75 944 hatch to work than spending $1000+ for a 968 hatch.

Ben,

Have you talked to Pete? He may have one available at the shop.

Hi Pablo - Pete does have a hatch from a dismantler - we may do a swap for the carbon fiber hood I've got. But a cheap 944 hatch and a few mods look like a darn good solution also.

Thanks for cofirmation on the hinges Porsche dude
