rxter- thanks for that reply. I was wondering if everyone had lost their sense of humor. BTW: just finished reading Stephen Hawking's <i>"An Illustrated Brief History of Time"</i>. Great read. Funny though, I don't remember seeing the quote about the 968 being infinitely dense. I'll just have to read it again!

Hey Scott, I tried really hard to find a graph of world's colliding, there's some heavy math involved...
I don't think the reference to infinitely dense is about the car in particular...there are a few members of the community however that would be hard to get a reading...a number reaching infinity.
I've strolled over to .net, there are some things that I like and some features that I think could be better. No harm, no foul. So far, with a single notable exception, things seem calm and friendly. If Ray had done this years ago then maybe things would have been different. I'm happy here. We have a long history of stable ownership by multiple partners who are dedicated to the survival of the resources available to the whole world. This site passed to us from Eric and we hold it in stewardship for the next generation of owners who we hope will care for the data as much as we do. I have said a number of times, this information should last for a hundred years (be careful what you write), I'm sure that it will survive us.
I don't think there is an either/or...No arm twisting here...we hold events because we enjoy meeting people and seeing their cars. Pete and Flash like making stuff, and you all like to come and chat or grab a piece of knowledge. We have seen a rise in postings and membership in the last month. It sure doesn't seem that anyone has abandoned this site to go "there". We have seen that on other sites over the years, and its happening now on the other, other site. We appreciate your loyalty and friendship, we will do everything we can to preserve the trust you put in us.

I have no problem with multiple sites as long as there is some point of differentiation. While this site is in the "must view daily" category, I also wander over to 968UK because it has a slightly different flavour and its interesting to see what the brits are up to. I was however disappointed to see some anti-"forums" comments at one stage over there...
I've signed up to .net but the RSS feed is a bit slow. Happy to wait and see but its not going to replace Forums.

If we close the thread then we become Forums Terrorists. Let's just let .net be there and forums be here...
Jake, can't wait to see you in PA next year...
