Why are the sponsors not showing up on the map anymore?
I like to open it up every once in a while and look at how close I am to RSBarn. It makes me feel good.

This needs to be fixed.

Thanks,
Jamie

there were so many members, it was becoming a blur of pins - we are moving them to a separate map - it will be up very soon

This map has become a huge success. Please avail yourself of it and reach out to members near you. There is a 968 rendezvous waiting to happen in your neck of the woods.

The sponsors and shops have been pulled from this map and now live on their own map. Check that out for a shop or service near you. More will be added soon.

Wow. I just tried that map. It seems to use Google Earth, a cool application, but one that seems to load something into memory on my PC that consumes 100% of my CPU. Everything comes to a halt. Does anyone else have this problem?

the link is at the bottom of the first post in the thread

it's a big map - there is a lot of information - it takes a minute to load

Any reason why the link can't be on the Home page? That way, folks would see it and know it's there. The way it is now, if you don't know about it, you'll never find it.

yes - access to the database is restricted to the lower member levels to prevent spammers from accessing the database - currently there is no method to control that if it is on the home page or the index page

it's not really any different than any other file though - we can't put everything on the front pages

there is a TON of stuff here - people will just have to cruise around and see it - the guide to where everything is can be found in the Tutorial - the Reading Room alone is full of cool stuff

Found it thanks - Wow! That is a great feature. I'm assuming that the members locations roughly represent the proportion of distribution of 968's - and was surprised at least in the States, how few west of the Rockies there were compared to those east.

There is a lot this could be used for w/ zoom feature, showing a get-together location/rally? w/ road course hi-lighted and place to stay etc....

Nice work

Thanks. Yeah, we are kinda working on a map that would be separate from the Member Map (due to space) which would have routes on them - GTGs could be incorporated into that, I suppose. The Routes Map isn't NEARLY as populated as the Member Map. More to follow on that. I noticed the East/West disparage as well... also thought it was funny - the very distinct line between East and West, running from Chihuahua, Mexico to Winnipeg, Canada, roughly the width of Nebraska. No 968s in the Central Plains, I guess.

It's not a matter of time to load. It locks up my machine. But then, so does Google Earth. It must just be me as it seems to work for others :-)

I need to apologize to those who have joined since the holidays. I have been swamped at work ( Uncle Sam has sent me away for a bit...), but I promise I will get back on the pony once I come up for air. I think the cut-off is somewhere in the December 10th range - meaning, if you came on AFTER then, i haven't added you yet. Again, sorry... and i'll get back to it as soon as I can.
