We took the coupe out in the mountains yesterday, scouting a route for our driving portion of the 968 Gathering in Colorado Aug 19-21. Lots of great roads, including two Continental Divide crossings. For a good portion of the drive it was snowing, and dipped to 35 degrees atop both passes! An hour later, it was 66 degrees and sunny (okay, so we were about 5000 feet lower too!). Of course, the car did great regardless of conditions. These are the types of roads the car was built for.



Was great fun. The drive should be a blast in August, when we're hoping for drier and warmer weather! The hotel rooms are being booked up, so sign up ASAP (see Local Events section) for a fun 968 weekend.

Chris, this is an amazing coincidence! Last year, on June 11th, I flew into Denver to pick up the 1993 Amazon Green 968 (which is now my father's). I made a trip to Breckenridge through the Continental Divide, and it was 37 degrees and snowing! It was amazing! I only wish that I lived there so that I could make that trip as often as possible! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Wish I could have been there.

A few months ago I was driving my newly acquired 968 from Atlanta and stopped in Denver for a picnic with friends...shirtsleeve weather. The next day great and sunny weather as we left Denver but crossing the pass not many miles west of Denver we went over a pass at 15 miles per hour in a 50 foot visibility blowing snow storm...only to hit sun again at Rifle. Coloradans have some weird, almost haunted, weather patterns. It was the only rain/snow I saw in 3,000 miles of driving (I took the long route). It was in that snow storm that I found out that my rear hatch had a delamination leak. I'm hearing that's not a trivial fix.
