1992 Porsche 968 Guards Red (interior white and black)
#1

Hi from sunny Florida.

I'm the third owner of the 1992 Porsche 968 that I purchased in 2004 (#517 of 750 in the USA). Currently have 126,000 miles. The Exterior is guards red. I believe the interior is considered white and black, althrough some may call it light grey and black. Amazing to drive even in the Florida rain. The car is less happy between July and September as the thin warm air and air conditioner both rob some of the horsepower.

Amazing to drive except for last week when it developed a major belt squeal and rough banging (more than a tapping) AC? Idler Pully?

Besides maintenance (Timing belt at 120,000) previous repair was mostly related to putting in a cooler thermostadt, throttle body leaking, negative ground from the battery.

Welcome Tony,

My first suggestion is read, read, read...its possible you have a number of deferred maintenance items on your car that could be easy to fix, but not so great if not attended to...

Please don't hesitate to ask questions and enjoy the site.

Regards,

Jay

Hi Tony, yes, if your interior is as described then you are correct, it is call light gray/black. It is actually pretty rare. Red is the most common color on the North American 968 cab with 442 built but only 3 of those were paired with the light/gray/black interior, They only produced 667 1992 cabs for North America (out of 2,008) so your car is even rarer then you thought. Good luck with it.

Tony, if you just had the belts done, and you have a major squeal and banging now, I'd check to make sure that new (tight) belt didn't cause something to break.

FYI: A/C compressor mounting bolt. Cheap on parts, but about 4 hours labor.
