I could be proven wrong when this sells , but I have doubts it will go above $ 50 K .
And although a personal preference, while speed yellow is one of my top most favorite colors on the 968 , this is one is summer yellow, which I can’t stand, but it’s not just me, I understand it’s not a color which sells well, as rare as it may be..
Last, whoever buys it , please, please get rid of those same color wheels, that’s ( IMO ) one of the tackiest things Porsche came up with , these cars are not M&Ms ..

Dan,
Not sure what you are looking at, but this car is 100% SPEED YELLOW. It's already at $40,000 the first day on the block. It's going to take pretty close to six figures to buy this car.
JMHO,
Jay

Weird.. the color in the photo most definitely looks like summer yellow ( the lighter shade of the “deep” yellow of the speed version ..) but the lighting can be deceitful. However, since the description indicates speed yellow, I’m sure it must be my eyesight that’s fading and not the car’s color .
Worth every penny of a $ 40 K bid , but six figures ?! Nah.. IMHO.

Following this now, out of curiosity mostly .. Seems stuck at $ 45 K, but a lot of folks wait until the last day to place a bid, so it’ll be interesting to see how much it ultimately sells for.
And not to be too skeptical or cynical ( although I do have those tendencies ) but in many bidding / auction cases the owner submits “fake” bids in attempts to drive up the price until and if it reaches the price point at which they’re willing to sell the car .. so I wonder if the 45 K current bid is a valid one or not ..

They never produced a CS in summer yellow, unless someone paid $4000 fo the option, and considering in Europe this was the cheapest car by a big margin, buyers spent the money on other things,
we had a guy over here who owned the press car that was driven by Walter whorl or however it’s spelt, with fully proven history and it was 100% immaculate
sold to a Dutch collector for £55,000, so I don’t think a tired ex track car will make $100k

But it’s an investment

But it’s an investment
only if your completely convinced by the motoring pundits, and lets be totally honest, the difference between a 968 coupe and a CS is very little, all suspension parts, all engine, all gearbox, are the same, only difference is the springs 25mm shorter, but no stronger,
no sound proofing, bucket seats that at my age I would never get back out of, and a few KG of weight,
is that worth the $30,000 premium the CS gets in Europe, no I don't think so, All I read is that its a rare car and a car you have to own, limited run of production and all that, 12,000 cars in total is a limited production run anyway,
I have driven a large number of 968's over the last 10 years, Coupes, Cabs, Sports and CS, and yes in the CS you notice the missing two adults of weight, but other than that its no different to a Coupe.
Unless its been modified quite a bit

200 lbs is “two adults of weight“ .. ? That’s one adult here ( yours, truly ..)
But the drag of that difference can indeed be felt ..every time I’ve had an adult passenger with me, I kept thinking how can one person’s weight make such a big difference ?! At least when initially accelerating ...after the car gets going for a few seconds it’s fine, but damn, it feels a lot slower vs. driving solo.
As for the values, there are a few threads here dedicated to that, but I’m still puzzled why the 968 has not yet reached true collector status .. ( those in pristine condition, that is .,) and why the rest , all else being equal , are not commanding comparable prices to say, a 993, for example... or even many dime-a-dozen 911s which are selling for significantly higher prices than the 968..

That's clearly a speed yellow (speed gelb) and not a summer yellow or else. Regarding the price I don't think it will reach six figures, but it may crawl to $60-70k. As Waylander wrote above a chap in the UK has recently sold his yellow CS, which was a German press car at lauch time and driven by Walther Roehrl, for around GBP50k. The aforementioned car owned and sold by the UK guy looked much better compared to his one ( at least in pictures), but let's not forget we talk about the US market here and it has higher purchase power compared to Europe. The underside of this Belgian car also looks like it was dry ice or steam blasted as I don't see factory protective wax.

12,000 is a limited production. The time of its production run, the state of Porsche as a business, a lightly modified and rebadged name and a front engine car all lead to the price state we are in. There is a good story there but one that is rarely reported. We may have to be happy with a limited production run that very few recognize. What are you?

Currently at $60k and still hasn't gone through the last hour craziness yet.
Shill bidding of course could take place, but BAT is not like ebay circa 1999 where anyone could bid without any qualification or repercussions. They qualify bidders and require a credit card hold in order to bid.

The hammer dropped at 80k!
Does anyone know if BaT requires a buyers premium or sales tax? This just might break 100k in real dollars.

Ridiculous price for that car ( IMHO ) But considering people are paying $ 300,000 + for a bunch of pathetic 60s and 70s Dodges or Chevys, maybe this is not at all “ridiculous” after all.

No kidding - this looks clean and listed for 15,900 - OBO. Prolly take less. (hope okay to post that)

And I'm w/ Waylander above - the CS is a nice car. But for the extra coin?? Just doesn't make sense. Car should have come w/ wt reduction and* turbo charged or similar.

I'm not a photographer so I don't really know the terminology, but the white balance on a lot of photos on BaT aren't good representations. I've seen "Ruby Red" 356s that look like Guards Red and Pompeii Yellow Alfas that look Exorcist Puke Green.Weird.. the color in the photo most definitely looks like summer yellow ( the lighter shade of the “deep” yellow of the speed version ..) but the lighting can be deceitful.
