Hello me and my dad are going this weekend to look at a 1992 968 coupe with 100,000 miles on it but it has a salvage title.. i wanted to hear what you guys think its worth. He said the front bumper, passenger side quarter panel and hood had to be replaced, and if you're under the car you can see where the bumper bolts on is a little tweaked.

Here's the link

These cars have decreased in value to the point where a relatively minor accident and the cost to repair the damage can cause the insurance company to total the car. If all you are going to do is drive the car, then the fact that it was total because of damaged body panels cost more to repair than the cars was worth, wouldn't be much of concern as long as there was no hidden damage. You mentioned that the bumper attachment points are tweaked and that is cause for concern. I would want some proof that the frame is straight.

A well maintained coupe, current on maintenance at about the same mileage and no salvage title might be worth $12,000. From the owners description, it would seem it didn't sell at $9500 so I would be inclined to offer less say $8000 if the frame is straight.

Do not buy this or any other Porsche without having a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) performed by a mechanic knowledgeable about these cars. Search the this forum for PPI information.

Nice color, sounds like the seller is trying to be "above board". I think that Chris is very close with his pricing...
If it were closer by, I would take a look at it for myself...

All the things he did truly were "standard maintenance"...I wouldn't go a penny over $5,500. For $7,000 you can find one that doesn't have a salvage title if you ever want to resell. Don't swing at a pitch in the dirt.

Jay

Be careful..the salvage title is a negative...though like Chris said, Insur. Companies may Carfax a total loss for a few thousand damage, but if you get a salvage title rather than a clean one, that could will be a problem when and if you want to sell as has been said above.
