Wouldn't say they are unique. These are standard 968 CS seats. European CSs came as standard with these unless comfort option was specified. They are also not Porsche exclusive. That's just a standard Recaro Pole Position seat. Pair of brand new ones cost around GBP900 (approx USD1,400), so the price of USD1,800 for the used seem to be on a high side.

They'd look good in Bio's car.

Yes, they would look quite spectacular in my car, if I do say so myself....

IndischRot968 - unfortunately, they are not "just" Recaro Pole Position seats, otherwise I would have bought a set of Poles a long time ago. Yes, these were made by Recaro for Porsche. Yes, they basically have the same dimensions and look the same as the Poles. But, pull up a pic of a plain-jane set of Poles, look at the back of said Poles, then have a look at the back of a set of Porsche CS seats made by Recaro. You'll see the difference quite quickly I believe. That manufacturing difference specificed by Porsche is what makes the CS seats unique, and, dare I say, command a premium.

I'm pretty sure I know where these seats came from too.

Unless they have $400 taped to the back of them, what difference would be worth the premium?

the back is smooth on the pole position, whereas the club sport has a rib pattern

I wonder if these will approach the price of the speedster seats. http://cgi.ebay.com/...s#ht_6376wt_970

I know I know I know.

But now that everyone and their brother knows about the auction, these gems are probably going to end up WAY out of my reach.

:D :(

They're sooo much lighter than the standard seats too.

Double :(

Everyone might know about it now but I don't know how many of us are ready to throw down that sort of coin for a pair. The seat upgrade is pretty far down on my to do list. I will dream about these tonight but be happy when I wake up with $1800 still in the bank.

That being said I would fight somebody for them if they were gaurds red...

At $100 per rib, you're welcome to them. Posted Image

Maybe if i win these, my car can look like a McDonald's. All i need are a red wig, yellow jumpsuit, and some face makeup.

the last set of these i saw went for something silly like $3000 - i'm not saying they are worth it, and there is lighter stuff out there, but the price can be high

They look so simple - not getting how they're significantly different from your garden variety fixed back, fake-suede covered racing seats. OK, maybe the yellow paint sets them apart, but I'm not seeing the premium over a set of Sparco Evo's or the like. Either way, climbing over those sills would be a test of one's dexterity...

I'm by no means knocking this style seat - I'll be in the market for something like them soon myself - but for my evolving track car, function and light weight will be the main criteria.

For me, these seats have a premium because they are OEM and rare, not because i feel these are superior to any current offering from Recaro etc.. I mean, these seats are 20 years old.

I can see how their rarity would make them desirable and valuable to a lot of people. But imho, it seems kind of silly to put seats this rare and expensive in a car barely worth $10K.

Ab54666,

Now that's what I'm talking about! Very nice... Wonder if they come in gray, and how much shipping would be...

But again, I'm talking about a track application, where all I care about is light weight, a good fit, and a reasonable price. I suppose if I was building the ultimate street 968, the CS seats could be tempting.
