Go hang out with the single-engine crowd at your local airfield and consider taking a lesson or two. Flying is not only fun, but it opens other "interesting" doors also.

the power increase from an octane boost from 91 to 93 is not a lot of power (4.8hp peak) - i don't think it's worth ruining things

I'm a chemical engineer by degree and worked in gasoline refining and specifically with catalysts. I'm also a pilot and use plenty of 100LL in my plane. I would never even consider it for my 968.
