I've used Blues for street/drivers education events. They were a pretty could compromise pad but not a true track pad. I would use Orange or Black if it is track only use.

Which PFC compound? I currently have 97's on the race car. I would say they are not too different than the Pagid Orange. They are nice in the fact that they do not need to be bedded. They are ready to go out of the box. The dust is nasty on the PFCs though. Be sure to clean your wheels after an event.

I would say Pagid Blacks and PFC 01s give the best stopping power but I usually go a compound less aggressive to get longer life from the pads/rotors.

Oh sorry Eric for not posting the compounds. I have been using 01's f and 97's rear. Just by the way, what fluid do you use?

I've heard guys say they have boiled ATE and Castrol, but have had better luck with Motul 600.

The 01/97 PFC combo is probably a real good setup. I would stick with it unless you are having issues.

I have used both the Motul and ATE. I was very happy with the Motul but I have switched back to ATE because it is so much cheaper. I was spending a fortune on brake fluid and I have not had any problems with the ATE. With the big reds I have not had any heat issues, but you'll have twice the horsepower...

I've pretty much never had a rock solid pedal feel consistently. Which is to say, fine on the road often ok on the track but from time to time it would go almost to the floor. Over time I've added CS underbody air deflectors, s/s braideds, Castrol Dot 5 fluid, new master cylinder, and now BR's on the front. Unfortunately I have had a series of problems with my engine rebuildsss (that's 3 in the last 12 months!!) and haven't been able to spend much time on the track or anywhere for that matter. Anyway new block being sent as we speak. Car will be back together probably late Jan. I will also do away with the air deflectors and go to direct ducting to the rotors and probably change to the Motul600. See what happens after this...I am planning on moving up in brakes to a race setup late this year but may have to update to a Tilton setup too. Love to spend money. If only they paid you to do it. lol

I don't think the pads are the root of your problem. We run PFC 01 front/97 rear on the GrandAM GT (if you are familiar with the series) Corvette I crew for. It does not have brake issues, even in long races.

No one can doubt you there. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Yes I agree. Can't be the pads. I realize that you can overheat pads and they will do this if they're worn more rapidly, but mine are pretty new so shouldn't be an issue there.

thanks for the input. Feel free to respond to my tire question too.
