Need a Transaxle - Yikes - Anyone got one for sale?

ODO pickup is in the left side of the trans is it not? They could have just forgotten to connect it. I know I removed my 944 S2 trans and buggered up the speed sender by not removing it properly so lesson learned there.

What interior color is that ?! First time I saw it in a 968...In the photo, it looks somewhat similar to the chestnut brown BMW uses - I love that shade of reddish-rust brown color, might redo my seats , dash, etc in that when the time comes .. Porsche lists that color as " red " ?

Dave, not sure about where the odo hooks up - Might be front wheel...not on transaxle...

Ds, not sure on the color..It is really growing on me though...I am not really a silver guy but I like the interior...

Thanks TT - She shows off well, can't wait to get her really detailed well.

Yes, beautiful car, especially considering how little you paid.

So in the end, was the pinion bearing the only real problem the shop found with your transaxle?

Yup. I will post some macro photos of the bearing later. It was really torn up.

Yea, up front it was only 5K, but having done some homework on the car, she knew I was going to be into it for a fair amount to get it roadable again. So far..

$5,000 purchase

$2,900 initial overhaul

$795 tires

$2,700 Transaxle

$500 DMV - title, tags and impact fees

_______

$11,895 to date

Also bought D1R strut tower, castor and firewall braces.- Paid (not in total here) awaiting shipment and install

Still needs alignment - and a few other small items.

Probably have close to $15K when everything shakes out completely.

But so far, I am totally thrilled with the car.

Linked - yeah, I think your right, speed sensor in one front wheel. I have too much 944 on the brain still.

In your third photograph the cars looks as if it is riding a little low in the back. Do you have Jimmy Hoffa stashed in the boot?

it looks pretty low in the rear in the first one too.

Looks high in the front, too, but I didn't want to say anything because he was so happy. Nice going you guys - peeing in his Wheaties. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

16s always look like that - plus, if it's low in the rear, and nothing is changed in the suspension, it will ride high in the front, due to weight transfer

Inked, I looked at your garage pictures. I really like the color combination and the matching color fill on the back valance and subtle pinstripe. A good looking car indeed.

Thanks, yea I really like the filled in letters. Must have been an option as the previous owners would not have done that.

I agree it does look low in the back a bit...I am thinking of doing something at some point. I would like to maybe put Bilsteins on it at some point, but have to overcome my mechanics objections as he is really pushing me to keep the car as stock as possible. He has already given me no small amount of crap about the soon arriving (hint hint Flash, lol) suspension parts...He does know who writes the checks,so he will do as I ask, (he wants to make sure I am happy and know what I am doing) but seeing as I have dumped quite a bit of cash into the car, I need to wait a bit before I go dumping another grand plus on shocks..

I still need to fix the small things that I am finding first...

Chris, It is funny you say "Fast Porsche Driver's" as "Fast" is one of my nicknames form long ago having a lead foot or wrist as I used to ride my bikes like I stole them. I am getting too old for that...

Hey Tama, thanks for sticking up for me - lol - Maybe Chris and Flash are picking on my car cause they wish theirs looked as good - LMAO!!

You are going to love the way the car handles with the suspension components added. I also have Koni adjustables on mine and M030 anti roll bars.

She handles pretty well so far, but I can tell there is a bit of room to upgrade.

You can pick up M030 front struts - they are height adjustable, so you can get the car lower in front a bit and corner balanced - used off a 951 for fairly cheap (I got mine for $300 off eBay) and have them rebuilt for about the same money. Of course if you do that, you'll want to do other 'while you're in there' items (strut mounts = $$$$) and then you're down the rabbit hole with the rest of us!

I think I will stick with something new and shiny, Bilsteins or koni coilovers - thanks for the idea though...

Yea...I was actually surprised they we not under the clear coat though. I think it offsets nice and were pretty well done. I also love the red Porsche logo on the rear.

I have never liked silver cars, bit this one is really starting to grow on me.
