Wiper Fluid Low Level Idiot Light
#1

My recently purchased 1994 Cab has the wiper fluid low level idiot light on the dash illuminating all the time. Previous owner said it was like that when he purchased the car.

The wiper fluid resevoir is full and the system works fine. I took the right front wheel well cover off to look at the resevoir and I don't see anything obvious - in fact, I can't even see the sensor that triggers the warning light.

Anyone have any ideas? Couldn't find anything in the archives.

Thanks.

according to the wiring schematic in the FSM,

there is a brown/yellow stripe wire that comes from the washer pump and goes to the dash light.

zone B26 on the wiring schematic

a switch in the pump grounds that line and turns the light on in the dash.

the pump must have some sort of float assembly in the tank?

maybe the float is stuck or the switch is broke.

you might have to remove the pump to find out.

if you've got the fender liner out you should be able to see it all.

Thanks - never thought that the sensor and the pump was the same assembly. will pull the pump out and see what's going on. Appreciate the feedback.
