It's really only a handful of kiddies who can't find it in themselves to grow up, act mature, and let decade+ old grudges go. They stop at nothing to put down any awesome product or service offered by D1 or RSB, and would never promote this place on any level...which in reality is really doing a disservice to any 968 owner. It is both sad and funny. Some of these guys are twice my age, yet have the maturity level of someone half my age. Makes me wonder how they get through life and how many people exist that they can call "friend".....Despite the fact that those fool use RL as their playground, I always mention RL in the same sentence as 968Forums & .NET as the 3 resources/forums for the 968 that any owner should look into. Of course...968Forums.com is the best...by far at that...and I make that clear, as I am a huge proponent. But as a 968 fan, I always mention the others to any new owner or potential new owner looking to mingle with the 968 crowd and learn about the cars.

the thing i find unfathomable is that somebody would cut themselves off from something useful just because they don't like something about 1 or 2 people. that's like saying that you wouldn't go to your favorite restaurant because you don't like the owner, even though you love the food. that's just juvenile.



but, it is a constant source of amusement, and frankly, it allows us to go on in a nice calm environment. regardless of how polarized the membership here may be on any given topic, the conversations always remain civil, we almost never have any need to step in, and there are never any instances like what we see there.

the layout of the site is pretty awkward and lame. that is one of the problems. the spam is another problem. yet another is that you can't contact anybody without using their network. i don't know about you, but i don't like those social networks, and won't use them.



fortunately, we don't have those issues here. the layout is outline form, and encyclopedic in nature. there is no spam. it's easy to contact people.



now, if we could just find a way for the people at .net to find out about this site, i think the problem would solve itself.

Your restaurant analogy is an excellent one. I agree that it's unfathomable why anyone would intentionally choose to cut themselves off from any resource, especially one as rich as this forum, devoted to this very limited production car.



But I've also observed a high degree of harmony within R.L., although I have no idea what might be going on behind the scenes. And you're right that I don't know anything about the membership logs - I'm sure there are plenty of R.L. members who lurk here. I'm referring to people who frequent R.L., who I never see post here. I just don't buy into the argument that the "rank and file" of one forum are all a particular type, and those of the other are somehow different.



The issues, as Fox says, are with a small number of people. I suppose it is best that there are two separate forums (I'm not counting .net, which unfortunately has some issues).

i completely agree. i can't and won't lump everybody into one pile either.



what i see there is a few people leading the conversations, a number of others "playing switzerland", and a few that just like to stir things up and cause trouble.



what i don't find there is a willingness to think outside the box, accept new people or ideas, or anything not stamped with the approval of a couple of individuals.



as an example, you can't even mention much about this site, the sponsors, or the owners, without getting chastised or banned

I remember the old wild west days of .net. I was new to forums and every day another fight broke out, usually over meaningless BS. Eric was so exhausted by it that he started Forums just to have a civilized place to have technical discussions. We've managed to live in peace here for over 7 years. I'm proud that we have managed to have incredibly civilized discussions here over the nation's most divisive topics, and even when we agree to disagree, or when one of the OCD owners refuses to agree on which <acronym title='Limited Slip Differential'>LSD</acronym> is the best.
