Winter Blues
#1

With all the bad weather in Scotland recently ( yes I know Canada gets it much worse!), you hardly have to drive any distance before your beloved 968 looks as though it's been chased by tanks across Salisbury plain! All the salt that's been on the road is now nibbling at your car! There will be lots of under body hosing for a considerable amount of months to come! Had a mild blip on a local 'A' road recently, I was driving along at a generous rate of knots when the back end briefly squirmed about, still going in a straight line though (great car!), can only think it was the cold night and uneven frost spread over the road affecting one side of the car and not the other. Anybody else experienced anything similar?

Not much better in London/kent.

Been using mine daily for the past couple of weeks (60 mile round trip). Sunday night she's tucked up in the garage all shiny, by wednesday you can't read the front number plate! Fortunately the local garage workshop near to my office has a pressure washer that heats the water, so once a week for beer money they've kindly let me borrow it for 20 minutes. One time the mechanics came out and took the wheels off for me to give it a good clean up!

Only had one slippy moment at a roundabout, was good fun!

I had a bit of a squirrel going around and over a corner. Thought my punching it and being a new driver to the car the reason. However, after hitting the same spot in a different car with a similar result I realized that some undetected moisture was coming up between the yellow lines and freezing. How did I know? I was so annoyed that I pulled over and looked at this spot.now I am super careful at that spot! The 968 was a champ when it happend. Rear end came out left and right but stayed on road and missed guardrail. Scared the living bejesus out of me though! God bless you guys mines parked in the garage waiting for cleaner roads.

The weather has been sunny and dry here for the past few days (albeit a bit cold) and as a result it has caused me to want to take the 968 out for a day. I even went to the insurance office today, toying with the idea of taking out a "day permit", but changed my mind at the last minute! I would end up spending three hours to clean the car for maybe four hours of driving.

I just have to be patient... but most surely have the "winter blues".

Cleaning the car in the cold is a blast. Can't believe you passed up that opportunity!

With New York having one of the worst winters (Metro NY Area) I had my 968 detailed last week. I'll wait to spring to drive it. In the mean time I will drive the Audi. This is the longest time in nine years that I did not drive my 968! (Over Three Months).

My car has sat in the garage for 3 weeks now. Its getting all dusty. I'm going to pull it out and take it for a spin as the battery must be pretty weak. I didn't mean to let it sit this long and i don't have a batt tender/float on it.

lol - we're having pretty darned decent weather - doesn't help me with the car though - i'm still not done with my projects, so i still don't get to drive it - i'm having issues getting parts together for the last 2 steps - ultimately they'll all be here, but stupid little complications keep pushing things back a day here and a day there - i think i finally get to put it back on the ground today, and can then start on the stereo, but i now i am waiting for the new modified tach to arrive before i can actually drive it

lol - then once i'm done, i have to watch it go away for a week to have the new top with the zip out rear window installed - pure torture

Yes its been 4 weeks with no drive and its due to run just to turn it over. Roads are dry today but between salt and all the other stuff on the road its pointless because then you have a salt encrusted car. My road is a ice and snow covered dirt road until I get it to the main road anyway. Wonder what I am thinking? Must be blues!

Well Flash has the weather but not the car! I think we should club together and buy him a kiddies tricycle, put a 968 look-a-like body round it and let him put the pedal to the metal! Naw, he would have it of the road in minutes, up on a ramp tinkering with it, trying to fit Campagnolo gears or something where they can't fit!

Beautiful day in Northeast Pa. sunny and 45 degrees. Can it get much better this time of year to have an opportunity to drive country roads to a business meeting? Today and tomorrow. Then car gets cleaned and back in the garage. Better than nothing!

It's going to be 68 - 70 degrees here in Philadelphia on Friday. Can anyone say half day?

Pete has had my car at RS Barn for about 3 weeks doing some "standard maintenance" .

Pete and Max both called last week to tell me how excited they are for me to drive it....I just know this is going to produce some serious smiles.

I spoke to Max last week to set up a time to drop my car off in march sometime. I suspect you might have less snow melt, salt and shake on the ground Jay. I must confess to having some pangs of guilt as I listened to the shake pelt the wheel wells and undercarriage! Thank God I got over it!
