#1

I can get a set of 993's headlights. Can they be modified to fit in our car's?

I think the proper question is is it cost effective, easy, etc.

this one has been discussed repeatedly

the short answer is yes

the long answer depends on what you are willing to do, and what you are willing to put up with in finished look

you can cut up the fenders, and graft them in - they will end up sticking up a bit at the top, and not be at quite the right angle - there is a guy with a purple car that did this - i saw it in person - while the craftsmanship was great, the 1/2 protrusion of the light above the fender bugged me

you can buy a set of fiberglass or carbon fiber fenders that have been modified for the lights - arktech used ot make them - i think they were about 3 grand for the pair - the fit and finish of the fenders is not up to the standards of the sheet metal

no easy answer for sure

Yes, they almost fit, it requires some bodywork and fabricating. I just saw a completed 993 headlight conversion, it looks awesome. The bodywork was aprox. $700 to reshape the openings and respray the complete fender.

i think a lot of it is subjective too - there have been varying opinions on the purple car, from those who have seen it in person (the photos don't really show how much it sticks up) - some like it - some don't - some don't care if it sticks up - others hate it

but ya gotta love the guy for doing it

I really question if the adjustment range of the headlights is enough to bring the aim of the lights into a safe range without making some modifications to the 993 headlights themselves.

Thanks for all the inputs - I'm not going to buy them!

I cracked my drivers side lens the other day, found a used one for $150. It's on the way...

BTW, if anyone wants a complete set of 993 headlights, I know a guy that's selling them...

For the one or two of you that haven't seen this car, here is a picture of a 968 with 993 headlamps.
