while i had a few days "off"
#1

over the last 2 weeks, i've been stuck waiting for supercharger stuff to be completed - not being one to rest, i decided to dive into a new project

the TR4A has been waiting for quite some time for me to breathe some new life into her - so, this seemed like a good opportunity

this is a 1 owner car with 65k on it but has been woefully neglected for about 20 years now - the father in law got it new and pretty much just ignored it, and the mother in law used it for a laundry sorter - it now has come to me - he is going to get to drive it a bit more before it comes to me permanently, but he really can't drive a clutch much at his age - i just thought i would give him the chance to reminisce

it got new ignition, hoses, hubcaps, and rings, a complete new dash, a major tune, a whole lot of scrubbing, buffing, polishing and waxing, rework on the top, brakes, clutch, a big rust hole the size of a football where the battery belonged got repaired, new badges, emblems, lenses, trim chrome, and a whole lot more - there are still a few things to do, but she's coming along nicely now - really fun to drive too

the pictures don't really do it justice - lol - the neighbors are all bidding on the car

We had one years ago. Spent a lot of time in the shop. Sure helped with the chicks though. Funny you should post this. I was at a political fundraiser yesterday and caught a TR6 in the parking lot. Evoked some fond memories! Was in pretty good shape too.

thanks - i'd love to be able to go deeper on it, but not right now - at this point it's a fairly clean runner - it will never be a concours car though

I fear that's not a 5 mph front bumper? Well it looks pretty anyway <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Bet you can supercharge it <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Very nice Flash! The TR4A / 250 was my pre-driving dream car as a teen. I had to settle for a Sprite instead. Later in '86 I shopped for a TR4A, didn't really fit, got a MGB instead which become my DD for a couple of years. There is something about the design / styling of the TR4A that really evokes a notion of the perfect sports car.

Flash,

Glad to see you getting the TR4A in order! My TR6 is coming along nicely, hopefully only a couple more months til she's on the road!

Thanks for posting the pictures! I always smile when I see someone driving around in one. They never seem to be worried about performance, just "enjoying the drive"!

Cute as a button. And the same color scheme as his tip - interesting coincidence.

the tip has a grey interior and the TR4A is black, but it is indeed cute - fun to drive too, though i liked my mgb a whole lot better - i think i may be getting another one - now that there is a supercharger for it, as well as air conditioning, i think it's a must
