When buying a new Porsche waht to do before you pay
#1

There was a new article IN the NY Times today 10/20/16 that was titled "A Father, A Son and the Porsche they Went in On Together" It seems like Porsche will allow new purchasers of a new Porsche to go the Porsche race track near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and drive, not their cars but one similar to the one they ordered and learn how to drive their car with a race instructor sitting next to you both on the track and on the skid arear for about 90 minutes. "They allow you to try various sport car maneuvers that would be frowned upon on Public roads" Of course it costs something to do this but sounds like it is fun and you learn all about your new Porsche. Sort of a track day or a DE day.

it's called the Porsche Experience Center.  there is one opening up here in socal any day now.  it is very structured.  you do not get to drive your own car.

I took 2 courses with Bertil Ros after I got my first 968. They provided the various cars and was very illuminating. It actually inspired me to try my first track event. Regardless of how well one drives there are many things one just doesn't know unless you have tried or been taught how to do.

I think it is good that you do not drive your own car. If you screwed up and crashed it would be a shame to do it on a brand new car. They provide models that are similar to the one that you ordered. And your car is there for delivery. It is the same experience if you had European Delivery.

Be careful and let's not have a Roger Rodas ( instructor ) and Paul Walker ( collateral damage passenger )  situation repeat itself with anyone here .
