Need good smog guy south orange county/north San Diego
#1

Where have you guys taken your cars for smog? Preferably one that is easy to work with and may or may not be able to help it pass with little hassle.

Also, did they do the fuel evap test on your car?

I've used this one for all my cars for the last 5 years.

Auto Park Smog Service

2336 Auto Park Way, Escondido, CA (760) 489-5426

Ed is the owner / operator, really good guy. I had trouble getting my Vanagon smogged (notorious for getting out of adjustment). And I was trying this and that to get it through, and he let me bring it over for free a couple of times, just hooked in up for 10 minutes to get a quick read without charging any additional $.

But I though these 968s are really easy to get through because of the variocam. In the past I've tried to "select" the best smog station to enhance the chance of getting it through; I could be wrong, I believe the 968s always pass with flying colors unless something is seriously out of adjustment.

Yes it is, only thing is the fuel evap test. It also failed the the NO but that should be fixed with the new 02 sensor hopefully.

yeah - regarding the evap test, we need to take a look at the canister that is under the driver fender - that may have an unseated hose or something - also, if they did not turn on the key, it won't pass the test

I don't know if anyone is familiar with the smog test only stations but they aren't certified mechanics or technical geniuses.... Although a gt3 was just getting done with theirs. I would hope that the reason it didn't pass the test is because they did not turn on the key. I'll do a visual inspection and let you know how it checks out. I'll be replacing the 02 sensor on Friday so I'll have a chance to get down and see what's going on.
