I am contemplating replacing the #2 knock sensor and was looking at instructions in the 968 workshop manual. It says to unbolt the intake rail from the engine, but does not have a labeled diagram. I tried doing a word search on the manual and then the parts Katalog without any luck.
Does the intake rail go by another name? Anyone know a part # that I could search on?
Lastly, how easy or hard is replacing a knock sensor?
Appreciate any info.

I'll get under there (the hood) and see if I can figure out what's what. I read in other threads that it's difficult to get at.

Taking the fuel rail cover off helps a bit, but I wasn't able to get any normal tool onto the sensor. I thought the mechanic that works on my other cars might have something he could access the sensor with, but he is saying they would have to remove the intake manifold. I'm not going to do that yet.
I replaced the O2 sensor and I'll see if that has any effect on the knock sensor #2 code that is causing my check engine light to come on periodically.

replaced the #1 knock a while back...iirc, there's a loctite requirement on the bolt that when combined with the limited acess, it's not an easy r/r; and you don't want to over-torque it or you can damage the sensor.

Replacing the O2 sensor didn't fix the knock sensor problem.
Assuming I can locate a tool that will allow me to remove the bolt holding the knock sensor in place without removing the intake manifold, can I reuse the bolt? The workshop manual says to reinstall with a new bolt and then has a parenthetical "micro-sealed". You (bva) mention loctite. Do I need to order a new "special" bolt, or is the micro-sealing a specific loctite that I could use with the old bolt?
