I agree that there is a lot of wrong information out there. I have been collecting just 968 data for 14 years and have a complete cabriolet database and I should be done with the coupes shortly. Below are the numbers I have for the North American production which includes the Canadian cars and a couple with German emissions as well. I've left your numbers to the left of mine:
The number of US (North American) cars I've got info about:
1992 N Coupe 653 649
1992 N Cabriolet 669 667
1993 P Coupe 608 608
1993 P Cabriolet 354 354
1994 R Coupe 718 718
1994 R Cabriolet 681 681
1995 S Coupe 259 259
1995 S Cabriolet 306 306
Total: 4248 (specifications: 4065 US, 178 CAN, 4 German (?) and 1 Puerto Rican)
Total: 2,234 coupes, 2,008 cabs
Does this seem correct compared with your info? We are pretty close with our numbers.
The four Neckarsulm Coupe cars:
WP0AB2961NN820001: C02, M44.41, G08.3F, M139, M249, M288, M340, M437, M438, M454, M586, M650
Shouldn't this be WP0AA2964NN820001?
WP0AA2966NN820002: C02, M44.41, G08.3F, M418, M425, M454, M650, M946
WP0AA2968NN820003: C02. M44.41, G08.3F, M288, M437, M438, M526, M650, M990
WP0AB2967NN820004: C02, M44.41, G08.3F, M139, M249, M288, M340, M437, M438, M526
Shouldn't this be WP0AA296XNN820004?
I checked all 4 on CarFax and none of them have any history here in the US so as I suspected, they never made it here.
The option codes you listed for these 4 are pretty standard here in the US. Too bad you don't have the exterior and interior codes. I have seen that the earlier cars have some of the more unusual exterior/interiors.
Good stuff, thanks for posting.
